Hey, I am fighting with this race car project. I cut the numbers on the doors out from signgold and painted some outlines over these cut pieces . The primer I used was 1-Shot vinyl primer and when that came loose, I swiched to Frog Juice. The paint still doesn't hold on Signgold. I have scratched the surface prior primer with scrathpad and second time I even sanded the surface with 600 grit paper. I am slowly getting desperate... could use some useful hints now, before I scrap the damned doors altogether...

Pekka...Signgold is overlaid with a product that they call "tedlar". It is something like teflon as far as I understand. It is there specifically as a protective layer and is advertised as being "grafitti proof". Paint is NOT supposed to stick to it. You should be painting the outlines outside the edges of the SignGold or should lay down the outline in vinyl first and apply the SignGold over top of it.

At least that method has worked for me over the last few years, with no failures. Here is one that has SignGold laid over top of the red outline.

Thanks Dave,
I was afraid it was something like that... Gotta go the 1-Shot on Vinyl way.
