I recently finished painting a purple 50 Merc with my " PYRO-TECHNIQUE " of painting realistic fire. we did a step by step video that came out really good. It takes you through the whole process. I'm trying to get a feel for how many of you would be interested in such a video. included in the video will be a list of materials, and supplies that I've used on these projects. also I'm going to include a mini portfolio of other fire jobs I did to compare one to another. It'll all be professionaly edited, and have all the trick editing effects as well as a list of suppliers. the tape runs about 52 minutes as it is right now. well, if you'd be interested in something like that please let me know. Thanks! Mike

Would jump at the chance to learn anything you had to teach. But don't think I could shell out 50 bucks to learn one technique that in all reality I probably wouldn't use on anything profitable (might paint my fridge that way ... but I'm not in that side of the business). Have heard of these flames (here) but never seen ... have any pics?

Just another reply from a different outlook.
You put a three dollar job on a three dollar vehicle. Most signmakers do just that and have yet to work on high dollar street or show vehicles as vinyl is a no-no. This is why most signmakers have no use for this kind of video. This video will be bought by some in order to store it in their video archives. Airbrushers and custom painters will use this video from the get-go to add another style to their portfolio. Although $50. bucks is high for just one style, a little less of an output in ones pocket could make it a Best Seller..

Thanks for the responses so far guys, you have some good points and joey, thanks for your input, good points. if anyone can re-post that pick here of the pt cruiser that would be a great help. I guess what I'm really getting at here is to get a idea if you guys would actually want to buy something like this rather than want me to go ahead and make it. I pretty much have decided to do it I just was looking for a little insight to futer sales of the tape.
would you like to see anything else in the tape? you really kind of have to consentrate on one thing per video though, at least thats what I think. as for the use that you would get out of it, i'm telling you once these projects hit the magazines guys are gonna want it done in your area. One of my jobs just took truck of the year at goodguys in Dallas and the PPG dream truck of the year 2000 that one in itself is gonna get a lot of press. I can't show those pics without someone saying " THATS IT! I WANT THAT! " seriously guys I'm kinda getting sick of doing em! I wanna paint something else!! hahahah thanks again.

After being in your first boot camp, I woud certainly buy one! One thing that always bothers me in how-to stuff is that none of the common problems that arise when learning are dealt with. Just keep your hat on and I'll buy one No dancing please....

Mike. Videos are nice. But instead of sitting on my @$$ watching a video and scratching my head, I would rather have hands on experience. Perhaps a FIREcamp similar to your bootcamp. Only you teach airbrush FIRE techniques. I gotta have that fire.

Count me in Mike ...consider this an order, let me know when it's coming and I'll send you the check...I've been telling everyone in the world about the technique every since I saw you do it at Joey's place anyone that thinks this isn't worth the money has got rocks in his head.(in my humble opinion) My big problem however is I don't have a vcr at the shop...have you thought about putting it on a cd? Then I can use my puter at the shop.(I think)or would I need a dvd player? Surely there is software for this??? Anyone clear this up?
IN addition to the technique would it include prep and finish clear?
Well thats all the questions I got...I think I can give up one Friday evening beer drinkin to own this tape.In fact I know I can (and will)

You guys know that I have been drooling over PT Cruisers since before they came out. I saw them up in Bemidji, MN while they were being tested and hadn't been shown to the public quite yet, so didn't even know what they were.
I always said I wanted one with flames.
THATS what I want... only the wrong color car.
Please let us know when anything is available that shows step by step on this type of flame, so I can get it. Then when I finally get enough money to actually own one of these things, I can make Bruce (DrCAS) airbrush the flames on for me!!!

Hey Mike, yeah mate those videos would sell like hot cakes. (sorry bout the pun) I've done a few of these since you first showed em, and they "rock".just cant get em right on yet, but still try'n. $50 us is about $100 australian so for me it is expensive (evan dearer than porn ) but to see ya in action would be great as you'd see more of your technique than in the mag write up.

OK Mike... heres how I see it. We cast Pammy Anderson in the lead and maybe a cameo of Mel Gibson for the chicks. Add a car chase, some hideous aliens, huge fictional weaponry, let the good guy get the chick just before the moon explodes.(Thats where the flames come into it) Love yer work baby. Sounds like a great idea. David

Those flames are something else!! I think Monte is on to something though. I would like to see step by step pics included with the video. If pics where included, you would be able to make sure you had each step correct before proceding, even if it is just a color photocopy of each step on one page; something to refer to while practising. I would constantly be pausing the video, running outside to paint, running back in, watching some more, etc etc. Know what I mean?
I'd love to be able to do that Mike. Keep us posted.

Shame, shame on David Fisher! DO NOT mention Mel Gibson on this board again. They had to call in the Letterville bucket brigade for Adrienne and I. (spontaneous combustion) Adrienne, if you get Mel airbrushed on the van will you pick me up at the airport in it if I fly out there? I'll supply the water tank to fit on the luggage rack.

Mike, I am so moved by this whole thing. I knew you when you first got on-line and I remember how self concious you were about the quality of your work. Well, DARLIN, I've watched you grow like a fire goin up a dry mountain in the summertime...kind of a colorful "poof" if you will.
In other words, you're standing there, and everybody is acknowledging you. I hope you can smile and accept all that unconditional love from everybody and drink it in without choking. You deserve every pat on the back you get.
I wanted to thank you for all time I could call you a friend. You have sent me so many conforting and medicinal gifts over the years that I've been struggling just to remain vertical. Like the phone calls to make me step away from the puter because I was literally laughing so hard, I could not breathe.
But that laughter saved my life Mikee.
It's time for you to take some praise and not argue about whether you deserve it. Don't make me come up there!
Besides, when you finally bow, I'm gonna kick yer butt coz you never stop in dixie! And you outta! There's a bunch of folks that would like to personally shake your hand. Especially if you teach. Hahaha!
Well, I always thought you were good.
(PS - Fire medicine is purification. You have a clean slate with everything that you needed it for.)
All my admiration and applause for a job well done, yer standing tall...(without a chair, even!)

Mike Awesome idea....Yes, put me on the video list. Your video at $50.00 US dollars = about $75.00 CAN dollars, per video. (Thanks Rod Tickle for your Austrailian conversion)After witnessing your great talent at your first Boot Camp (and your patience with us newbies)I would say this video would be a 'must have' item for every serious shop. I would loooooove one! Take care, 'Hi" to Rhonda! Sue
