Today, at 9am, I was drivimg to do a job in the town of Rainer. Well, I hit an icy road and the ride began. I slid back and forth and around till the bed of my truck slammed into a telephone pole, then tossing my truck and I into a ditch about 7 foot deep. The back of my truck was really crushed bad. I was fine, of course. But the contents in my truck bed went flying! Paint, brushes, rulers, etc. So after dropping my truck off at a local body shop, I fired up Old Blue,my trusty 1991 Toyota PU.(Over 320,000 miles on it) Got it re-licensed, insured and back to work. .
Later on, I went back to the accident site to go through the bushes and retrieve any lost brushes or any thing else. I saw one of my business cards laying in the grass. I just left it there.
I havn't heard if my other truck can be saved, I sure hope it could, I just bought it last March.
Also, the reason I think I glided through this with ease, was because I try to keep my muscles and bones limber. Every day I strech them.
That's it.

Glad your ok...

Years ago Patsee and I were going to town on a snow packed glare iced country road and the idle was stuck on high so when I wanted to slow down I would just kick it out of gear and brake to a stop (I'd been doing this for sometime) but this one time I actually shoved it passed neutural and into reverse,,,that poor ol truck did a loop faster than I could figure what was wrong...luckily no one was coming the other way and somehow it stayed on the road...but I know the fear you went thru.

We laugh about that today but it sure wasn't funny at the time.

Hope the truck wasn't hurt to bad and again glad you ok. [Smile]

Alicia, You were very lucky, sorry to hear about your truck, hope you had insurance to repair it. If the bed is the only section that got banged up, then you might get lucky just only have to replace that part. Main thing is you were not banged up, hard to replace our parts...

Glad you're ok. Hopefully the ride the insurance company puts you through is easier than the one this morning. [Smile]

Alicia, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of any brushes and supplies that can't be replaced. The brushes seem to keep getting worse year by year and the paints seem to follow suit. I treasure all my old tools and inventory. Trucks can be replaced. I'm glad that you are OK.

Sorry to hear about your incident. Vehicles can be repaired most of the time and so can we. I'm glad you are in good shape however if you are quite sore tomorrow you should see some kind doctor just to be safe. I hope you found all of your supplies (brushes, etc.) and glad you had "Old Blue" to get you through this trying time.

Have a safe new year!

Yep I'm with Mark, it's only a truck and the only thing that matters is you are OK.

When I was living in Missouri (Misery) I had an incident with an icy road too, 'cept mine happened as I approached an intersection along a 4 lane highway.. and I was on the highway.

I slid right through the intersection backwards, but lucky for me I didnt hit anything and it was late at night so nobody was out.

Alicia,

Glad you are okay and don't worry about the truck. Things have a funny way of working out.

Who knows....you might end up with a better one when the smoke settles a bit.

Have a good day.
