~ Look for a glimmer of hope during unfortunate times ~

'Tis the season where we're upon circumstances that can bring us sadness, as well as complete joy. A special time of year tends to bring out all of our emotions depending on our circumstances.

And why not make the most of it! Those going through an unfortuate time, perhaps you can find that glimmer of hope and happiness.

When my dad passed away a few years back, I honestly didn't know how I'd get through Christmas. What it brought me was a profound new relationship with my mom. She started to stay over for weekends, etc and truely develop a bond with Cody like never before. Every year we write to each other how we cherish our new relationship.

On a less serious note:

Today for example is another reason to be happy about a rather unpositive event to come. Inlaws are about to arrive (she's currently not in good talking mode with us for yet again silly reasons). I watch the glee in Cody's face when I tell them they're coming and that makes it all worthwhile.

Just about... what I really love about their visits is my house is ALWAYS spotless upon their arrival. It's generally kept up, but today I tore apart the stove elements and scrubbed. (They have an eye for the new and polished) Basically, their visits enable me to be motivated enough to see my house shine once again. How's that for true optimism? LOL!!

Donna,

I understand what you are saying. I spent Christmas Dinner with my Mom and Step-Dad. Usually there are at least 20 people there but this year with my Mom on Chemo and every family has a member sick with the flu it was just me.

It was a strange but interesting Christmas. We actually got to talk without being side tracked by little kids. I was surprised by their big, shiny new refrigerator. I stayed longer then usual and did not go to the movies.

Thanks for the post,

Debbie
