Saturday the phone rang and it was Bob Peach and his wife Marcia...they were passing thru Oklahoma on I-40 on their way to California to see their son for Christmas.
I had talked to him a few days before and invited them for lunch. They were on the road from Cape Cod and must have had the hammer down cause they made it in 2 1/2 days.
We got to show off our dirty shop and spend a couple of hours telling stories and getting aquainted.
They are really a great couple and we were really pleased the chose to stop and see us...we knew a lot of "Heads" in common but have never met at a meet.
What a small world the net has made of Letterville.
I apologize to them for the perfectly awful luch we were served ...we bragged up the Pizza at one of our favorite haunts and wouldn't you know it ...It came out cold and not up to their standards...isn't that how it always goes.
Well hopefully they will stop by on the way back, we invited them to layover a nite on the way back.
Hope you too get to meet these fine folk, they were truly enjoyable.

Glad you enjoyed the rewards of hospitality once more, Monte. Do you know their route and destination? Perhaps more of us can get in on this blessing?

Monte... Some of the best visits you will ever have are surprize Letterhead ones. Like the time Mike Meyer knocked on my garage door...I was all crabby & painting in my nightgown and a paint-splattered parka. I stopped what I was doing & took him on the ten-cent Mars tour (pre-meet...now that is a $10 tour!) I took him to a local fish place that is always good...we had the waitress from HELL & she didn't serve his pierogies promptly. Then I took him up the road to see my sign mentor...Rick was not in. So I stopped at another local shop (I haven't been back since...this was a vinyl guy who sneers at the Letterheads movement, I did get him into painting tho) Amidst blaring death-metal we were greeted by a bored pierced twit of a girl...the boss was not in. So if cold pizza was the worst of it...that's OK. I love when a Letterhead stops in...like a nano-micro-meet but just as refreshing. Sincerely-JILL

I met Bob & Marcia in Atlantic City a couple of weeks ago. They really are great people. I've never had anyone just stop by, but I bet that would be neat.

Monte and Patsy treated me like a King the time I swung thru there....We did get a Great meal wherever the place was we went to...Mexican Food...man was it delicious! I did not know that Monte was such a relic...he told me of some of the good ol' days in Denver when the Letterhead Movement was just beginning. Thanks Monte and Patsy, I'll be back some day!
Jill, I enjoyed the show you gave me, and I still use the Mars Blanket you bought me at the school! Thank You so much! Perogies, or Haggis...I guess I'd have to lean towards the Haggis! That waitress was en route to axe murdering someone that day!
On our trek to South Carolina this coming March, we'll be on the look out for sign shops to stop and visit! It'll be fun! It always is!

I was one lucky guy to have met alot of Letterheads thru this web site. Only a couple have passed thru here that I was able to give my mini tour of what I have done around Fresno. My very first Letterhead to come to my place was Jackie Vaughn "Jackie the Bomb" and this was just a few days ago. Funny thing is I (also Richard Bustamonte) was her first Letterheads to stop by and visit. Hopefully soon she'll be back and bring along that crazy and wild Moon child, I'll be waiting for you Stef!

Hey Monte, We made it all the way to Santa Clara. We stopped and visited with Si and Marty Allen and Byrd ,in southern CA.It really is neat to actually meet the folks you talk to on the computer. Monte has a really great shop, much cleaner and bigger than ours. I haven`t seen that much clear floor space in months. I`m glad to find out I`m not the only sign guy with a car project tucked in the back corner of the shop. I just want to say thanks to Barb and Steve for this board. We`ve met so many great folks in this business through this forum.
