Hi there,

Just wanted to share this with you...

I have been in contact over the months with Tom Kennedy from Concord MA, he worked for Jay Cooke back in 89 I think, anyway to cut a long story short he met a Swedish girl and decided to move here (poor guy!!). He had his own shop in recent years, and used a Gerber router, he has moved to Uppsala about 40 mins north of here. Anyhow he came to visit yesterday, and what a breath of fresh air that was! His work is absolutely fabulous, beautiful hand carved pieces of redwood and mahogany, together with some HDU, really great choices of color layout and meticulous excecution of his work, down to the finest details. Wow!!....great. Also was stuff he had done on the router, and a piece that Gerber use on their router brochure. WE talked for many hours about lots of things. I just think its sad that, dimensional signage is not what it is in the US over here. We cannot produce stuff here for the right money or cant sell it for what its worth, so making it unattractive to push. (Very high taxation and labor costs). He was saying that where he came from 75% was wood or dimensional signage.

Anyway it was a real pleasure for me to meet someone so talented, and spend time together, I have said he is welcome to come and hang out anytime! He is going to try and help some with carving etc...He also showed some good samples of glue chip which is something else I would like to learn.

Just great to share some real interest together in the flesh....most signage here is so boring as are most local sign people which is sad to say.

Henry,

I too, am very elated for you. What a wonderful reunion that must have been. It seems in life that there are so many special occasions such as these. Did you take pictures of anything? That sounds like a meet to me too, Pat.
