I've just noticed recently that with some TrueType fonts in Flexi that the "outline" that shows up when you select the text is grossly different (i.e. larger) from the actual text shapes underneath it, especially when zoomed out.
Flexi appears to auto-kern off the "outline" that it calculates. The offset of outline/preview vs. actual character is making manual kerning for TrueType fonts a real hassle on a job I'm doing.
Kerning (manual and auto) works great with the FlexiFonts, and their outlines show up correct.
Anyone know why? Is there a workaround for this?
Thanks!
Jason

I have Flexi 7.5. I tried to duplicate your situation as best as I could but could not make it happen, however, I don't fully understand your problem from your post.
You might try emailing Flexi to see if they have a work around. I have found them to be fairly responsive to emailed support questions. They also like to receive copies of the files that have the glitch in them to see if they can reproduce the bug. They also would like to get from you details on your operating system and computer (processor, RAM, etc.)
Also, check their site and see if you have the latest updates.

The red outline is what shows up when I select the text object, no stretching or anything is in process in that shot.
If I zoom in on one/two characters at a time, the red outline is almost correct (matches displayed character) and I can kern OK, but when you zoom out the kerning of the displayed characters doesn't match what you just did in the zoomed-in view, but the red outline characters/kerning is still OK. And it appears to cut the red outline character size/kerning. So I guess what I'm saying is the displayed (black) characters don't represent what is going to get cut - if I want to see what is going to actually cut I have to select the text and go off of what the red outline shows.
I have Flexi 7.0v2... and there are no more upgrades that I know of!
Looks like I'm going to have to pull out the old laptop with Windows 98 and Inspire for this one... Ugh!

Well, I figured it out on my own, by accident...
The problem appears if "Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts" is selected under Edit/Preferences/Tools/Text Tool. Disappears if you uncheck it. Strange, it should read "Obscure Edges of Screen Fonts" instead.
And Doug, where do you get the upgrade to 7.5? It's not on the website, I've been all over that place and only found the Press Release for 7.5...
