Rick, some 35 years ago I illustrated this.... http://www.stmariegraphics.com/sequoias.html and I was (obviously) in California, but I can't remember where I was. Do you recognize this area? See the old man sitting on the stump near the lower left? Those were some BIG trees!!
I illustrated it with pencil and committed it to an engraving when I got back to the studio.
My eyes were better in those days.
Anyhoo....... Where the heck was I???

Hmmmm, Giant Sequoias...Giant Sequoias, hm?

I don't suppose it would have been Sequoia National Park? Too easy?

Dunno. Was wandering around in the dark trying to find a quiet place to mess with some really great Peyote, so I leaned up against a tree in the dark and finally went to sleep.
When I woke up.........THERE THEY WERE!!
Never DID know where I was.

heh........

Those are not coastal redwoods, those are what grows around Yosemite and St.Marie National Park.
In the winter they grow psychotropical fungi that migrate into your brain through hair. That's why so many folks in that region shave their heads.
