I'm getting ready to use this product on new cedar siding, on our home . This product is heavily boasted by paint pros. This could be an answer to many questions asked here on the bb about natural finishes. The system requires the sealer primer coat (clear) to be put on all surfaces before install. Then the finish top coat, recoating evey 5 or so years. If it works, it is much better than anything I have even seen by far. http://www.nam.sikkens.com/product-category.cfm?product_category=exterior

I use it on all exterior solid wood, natural colour signs & love it. The two part process takes time & it is pricy - but love the look & the protection. Home & cottage signs make up about 40% of what I do - guarantee them for five years & haven't had one back yet. Started using it on the advice of my BM dealer - and local painters & am happy I did.

I used the Sikkens system on tongue & groove cedar for the background on an industrial park sign. Its been up six years and it is just now starting to peel a little but just around the knots. Longest lasting clear (well almost clear) I've ever seen for wood.
