Howdy y'all. I'm trying to install the Colorchoice 3 to the new computer & it says: "generic/text only printer not available... needed for this setup.." or something like that. Has someone dealt with this before? What am I doing wrong?

Color Choice is the software your using right?? Not sure if this is your problem but when I started using XP I had to get a new driver so it would see the "dongle"

yup. I'm running colorchoice 3, but I don't have a dongle...never needed it... I mean, the dongle is the doohickey that connects to the printer port, no?

See, I run the setup like I normally would,& when the computer restarts for me to select the printer from a menu, it says: "You do not have a generic/text only printer configured which is required by this setup. Refer to the manual to configure one." I checked the manual, I can't find anything about this.
I've tried to email Roland, but they never respond.

ITs really difficult to diagnose a computer prob from a post.. but it sounds like you will have to set up the sign machine using your driver disk. XP has to know wht you are trying to operate and it sounds like it don't know your machine is in place. You need the driver

No, its not on a network.
I believe it does recognize the printer, because it allows me to select it from the list that would normally pop up, & its listed in the printers folder.
Thanks for all your help!!!
