My husband went away this weekend on a business trip, and before he left he made me a treasure map. I couldn't believe he did this......once in a while the romance does come out! haha Anyhow, with this map he had written little funny poems to lead me to the next place on the map in the house. Every so often there would be a treat! Wine, candy, cashews...etc. Anyhow, with Valentine's coming up next week I want to do something just as sweet. I'm having a hard time coming up with something original and romantic. I thought that with all you creative people maybe some of you could come up with some good suggestions. (oh ya....going away for the weekend is a good idea, but not possible in the "$$$" area.)
Looking forward to hearing your responses. Bren

In return, as most of us are men of talent, those things that are held most dear to us is the intent behind the message, not the "value" of it (as women are for diamonds)
My suggestion would be for you to take an endearing song (one that I received) like "If Tommorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks....Yes...gotta love that country music...
The words behind the song goes like this
If tomorrow never comes, I just want you to know how much I love you.........
It is a beautifully phrased collaboration of words and it makes for an endearing gift that once printed and framed would surely be appreciated...and try to place some personal touch to the closing or opening statement that proclaims his value to you! Displayed proudly in an area of your home for all to see!
And we are all suckers for a handwritten poem that you personally write!
I once realized that a relationship with a girl would not last for too much longer because our directions in life were so different...irregardless, she was a beautiful person and a simple goodbye was not enough so I sent off for a certificate to have a star named after her. Once it arrived I wrote the poem below...framed it and gave it to her!

Robert, thanks for your response. I think the "song" idea is a great one. Maybe I'll use the "song" that we chose for our wedding day. Maybe.....I said maybe..hehe...I might even attempt to hand letter it on plaque.
Thanks again Bren

Almost all men like to eat! How about a reservation at a resturant where he would apprecite a steak or a hamburger. Ask for a booth. Find a picture of him in his younger years, have it enlarged to 8 1/2 x 11 at a colour photocopy shop. Add a favorite mushy saying or a limmerick showing how much you appreciate all he has done for you. Ask the resturant to post them in the booth before you arrive. Don't mention it. See how long it takes for him to notice it.
For an added twist tell him you couldn't find the last treasure on the treasure hunt. Put the box back with a new treasure inside....A clue as to when and where the dinner reservations are. The ask his help to locate the last treasure.

The sweetheart coupon book is one of my fav's. It has coupons for backrubs, temple massages, etc. It has a favorite homecooked dinner coupon, a desert coupon, etc.
The special ones are for the bedroom only...especially if "you can leave your hat on" from the soundtrack of 9 1/2 weeks is on.

I looked up the lyrics of our wedding song.....ouch, can't believe that was our song lol
So, I decided to write a poem. I've never written a poem before....so remember....I'm not a poet!
O.K. here goes...
Stars of Love
I see your smile, feel your heart, hear your voice and know that we could never be apart.
We met as children and felt the stars of love, even as adults the sky still shines above.
I've always dreamt of finding such a treasure, now that I have I will love you forever.
Every day that passes, know this is true, my love only gets stronger all because of you.
Is this too corny or too lame?
Not sure how I will present this yet. I might make into a card.
I also liked Chuck's idea of a picture. Maybe I will try and find the "first" picture of Wade and I when we first started dating and use that.
Hey Mike, I laughed when I read your post. Wade and I used to use those sweetheart books when we first started dating as teenagers. I have not seen those coupon books around in years! haha

How about painting a heart that says "Brenda loves ..." and putting it out in front of your house so he will see it when he drives up? I'm going to do that here at my house, but, if you don't mind, I think I'll put mine and my hubby's name on it. Hehehe!

Maybe he's too romantic for the gift I had in mind, like a case of beer, a box of cigars, and a tape of National Hockey League highlight films. Oh wait, he's Canadian, right? Better get two cases, eh.
