This is a job I just sold this morning. It was my first use of Mike Jackson's Americana Collection.

The sign was actually designed several weeks ago - (the day I received my CD), but the customer has waited to make a decision until now. To tell the truth, he was trying to get me to come down on the price, or go up on the size (and keep the price the same). After the stare down, he finally decided that I wasn't going to budge and ordered the sign.

It will be sandblasted HDU - 38" x 72" Double faced. $3,500.

I figured in the cost of the CD, so every time I use Mike's collection from now on is gravy.

And I hear that David Butler has #3 about ready, so there is some more ideas.

I promised I wasn’t going to do any more “short” jokes at your expense, but when you make statements like the one above, well, it makes that promise much harder to keep!! -

I’ve been using my copy as well. I posted this same content over at 4edgetalk, so nothing more then a cut and paste job below. Just want to stress that these things can be used “wherever”, not limited to just traditional “signage”. Thanks again to Mike and the likes (David, Don, etc.) that allow me to benefit so greatly from their efforts for such a fraction of the cost involved.

The Americana collection isn’t limited to just traditional sign use. I’m using the collection at times to help create “slides” for various uses at the church I attend. Here are screen shots of three recent slides.

The first, Ladies Christmas Candlelight, had some additional information along the bottom that I have removed. The main shape is directly from the collection, opened inside Photoshop (eps files), and manipulated to what is seen.

The second one contains some self created images plus pieces from the collection. This slide also contains a bunch of animation in it in order to grab and hold some additional attention (not reflected here in a still grab). The berries, holly, and candle are from scanned hand sketches, imported into Photoshop, and then built upon the scanned images. The banner was imported from the Americana collection then manipulated and built upon to what is shown. Likewise, the snowflakes were built up from a scanned image. The accent along the bottom is a “stock” piece from the collection.

The third image contains two flourishes from the collection that are combined and manipulated to create the appearance of “one” element. These are placed above and below “Celebration”. Although the font doesn’t seem to fit the “period” or “look”, it worked rather well and received positive comments. The boarder started life as piece number am974, modified slightly, then placed in each corner and connected to make was is reflected. All the shadow and texture work was done inside Photoshop. Additional information on the slide was removed before posting.

Again, Mike’s collections and others like them don’t have to be limited to “traditional” signage use only!

Barb,

The installation is just a simple back-to-back panels over 4" x 4" redwood posts. There was another version which incorporated a single panel between two posts with finials, flutes, etc., but he didn't want to spend that kind of money - about $5,000.

Ray,

WOW great design, nice price too.

Diane is really jealous of your ability to extract the mo$t from a de$ign.

You are the master. We really have a lot to learn about the sign business. I think I'll buy some of those CD's and try some ornamented designs.

Your pricing matches ours almost exactly. We go about $85.00 SF give or take depending on detailing, etc. A little less for quantity like golf course fairway signs or multiple sign system.
