I just got this plotter a few months ago and am pretty happy with it. I havnt used it much yet since Ive been trying to get more involved with 3 dimentional signs. the problems Im having I think is with the software not a mechanical problem. I cant seem to plot anything over 20" long it just stops and doesnt finish cutting no error message or anything. Wincut 2.1 is the free software that comes with the plotter I use Corel Draw for my design work then I export an .eps file to wincut. I know I will need to eventually upgrade my software but right now its not in my budget. has anyone had this problem suggestions?

Call Summa the help/tech folks are great. They will be able to tell you what the problem is. I have a d60 and had a problem with the clear release liner with reflective. Found out the sensor just needed a minor adjustment in sensitivity - all talked over the phone.

I had the D60 and was so unsatisfied that I haggled an upgrade to the D750 pro. I kept getting Error on X axis on two different machines they sent me.
But I understand that most people have been pretty happy with that unit?! Must be a hex over my house.....
Anyway, other than the hard-to-decipher, cave-dweller drawings on the control panel...the D750 has been a pretty good machine....2 motors instead of one, more power, and I don't get the Error on X axis which was related to the motors not able to pull the weight of the roll, or a sudden yank on the roll when it auto-advances which the motor couldn't take.
Edit: These were only ten yard rolls I might add.
Summa Tech Support? As stated above - no complaint here, they are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable and I'm sure they will help you out.

Richard I was having the same problem with mine what was happening the sensor seems to be set back to far and sometimes when the vinyl feeds up it will raise up off the carrier and the sensor dosn't see it.. So I did a real easy fix.. Put some tape over the sensor It works fine for me except when I use a short peice of scrap material it will shoot it across the room. I have also had that x axis problem it ****es me off.. I dont think the motors are strong enough to pull large rolls of vinyl.. But otherwise I have been real happy with mine

Usually, it is helpfull to pre roll off the amount you will cut. This will help the machien track beter too!
I have a machine that will pull a 50 yrd roll but why? pre roll off the material and you will reduce the stress on the machine

The media sensor can be easily turned off in the plotter menu. The setting is under "system setup", "media sensor" the options are on or off.
I leave the sensor off except for non-roll (leaf) material. Where the senor is needed.
I have had great success with my Summa d-60. It tracks reliably for even long lengths of vinyl at varying widths. I have owned the machine for two years and use it daily.
My only complaint is that I have a great deal of trouble plotting sandblast stencil. It often mistracks and ruins the material. I have tried two different brands of stencil and had lots of trouble with both. The plotter has little trouble with small designs but anything over about 4' and it chokes. The material bunches in the middle. I have often thought that an additional pinch roller in the middle of this machine would fix the problem.
