Someone who drops into my new studio would perhaps think things are being done in a wierd order...
The desk that will wrap around the window is coming along nicely, but I can't put on the top until I finish the plywood on the walls. That job is to be done next week. The decorative plaster will go on after the steel top.
The old shelves full of books and stacks and stacks of boxes clutter the center of the room. They were supposed to stay in the dungeon until the studio was totally finished, but then the basement in our old house started to flood... they were moved in a hurry!
A welder, various tools, building materials and a tall scaffold fill the remaining space in a hurry.
I started building the new bookshelves which will go right to the vaulted ceiling covering one wall entirely and almost 20 feet high at the top of the arch. But I can't decide if they should go all the way across in places or if I should leave the whole 4 foot section in the middle for wall display top to bottom. (this is where the FKAB panel will hang)
Even with my imagination going full blast and a number of pages filled in my sketchbook I simply couldn't decide.
So I finished one side. I stained the oak shelves tonight. Looks great! Tomorrow, I'm thinking I may as well put the books on the shelves that are done as it will give me a much better idea of how the finished product will look and get the old bookshelves out of the way for the rest of the construction. This will give me room to finish my new desk, put up the railing, and start the tree...
Parts of the studio are starting to look finished while other areas are still little more than framing and insulation... not exactly perfect order by any means.
But in my world stuff happens. Daily. And so we make the best of it while we plow on!
Plastic sheets and dustcovers will protect the valuables while we continue doing business and construction at the same time.
The original and hardfast plan to move in AFTER the construction is complete is LONG GONE! But as chaotic as it may seem to visitors, there is a definite order to my universe!
Does anyone know how to say "Knowledge lives in books" in Latin??

Dan, have you ever had an occasion to find some spare time, and if so what would you do with it? It appears that you are the busiest man on our sign painting planet.
