I did a search on past posts and although it was known to many, only David Cooper had actually used the torpedo tool. Any other pros or cons out there before I send them my 35 bucks? Thanks.

Sonny, I did buy them earlier this year before attempting my first rivet-covered box trucks in many years. The directions say it takes some practice to get the hang of 'em. However, before that happened, I seemed to get the hang of doing it the old fashioned way(squeege, pin and heat gun) and the job turned out fine. The tools did seem to help at least with burnishing the vinyl down over the rivets as kindd of a finishing touch. The manufacturer said they developed these in house for their own use before thinking of selling them, and they use them all the time.
If you want to try them, I'd be glad to sell them to you at 1/2 the original cost- just email me if interested.

You guys ever hear of/see a rivet tool called "The Porcupine"? It has a concave burnisher that goes over the rivet and a circle of pins come out and puncture the vinyl as you press it. Just wondering if anyone has tried it and if so, what their feeling of it is.

Sonny...I have a pair of those torpedo tools. They worked fine...for a short while...then the ends got worn down. All they are is a hard nylon tube that is turned down on a lathe at one end with a chrome plug in the other end. I just use the squeegie/pinprick method now.
