I did a search here and found several people praising 851. I too have been using Oracal for quite some time and especially like 851's characteristics.
Recently on a couple of rolls of 851, the first 6 to 10 feet have a good gloss finish. From that point on there are imperfections in the finish that resemble some sort of pitting and the finish has a dull appearance.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I have had the same thing here. I also had a role with what looked like a cut running the length of it for about the first 20 yards. It wasn't actually cut through, just maybe scored, dunno. The finish has been less consistant than their other lines.
