You just have to admire my restraint and self discipline...
Last night I didn't do more than glance at the big package sitting in my shop. And this morning we unloaded the tool trailer, cleaned the shop and got things organized as they needed to be.
The box was calling louder and louder as I worked however and I could hardly stand it!
Before lunch I dragged the box into the center of the shop ready for the grand unveiling. Lunch was quick, and not the regulation half hour we usually take.
And after lunch it was finally time to take the lid off and see the long awaited prize!!! Janis had the camera handy to record the event.
It was packaged well, and even had my name hand lettered on a wood sign on the outside. This was special!
I undid the screws, one by one, slowly working my way around the box. With the last one the lid fell forward revealing the colorful, gleaming, gilded work of art inside.
WHAT A TREASURE!
It arrived safe and sound - without even a scratch.
This thing is much more beautiful than the pictures reveal. The gold glistens throughout, the colors are rich! It's a beauty!
What really amazes me is that so many folks from so far away could each do a piece of this puzzle and it fit together so seamlessly. That speaks volumes of the original design and Joe's organization and finish work.
Thank you so much all who were involved! I will treasure it!
I sat in front of the case looking it over for a long while, admiring each bit of the sign... too cool! And it will look even better in the finished studio.
It was with great reluctance I closed up the case once more and reinserted the screws in the cover to protect the piece in the case until I finish the display place where it will permanently be displayed. The piece is just too valuable to risk having it out in the open until the construction is done.
Rest assured that it won't be too long before the studio is ready! This piece will hang proudly in the center of a custom made cabinet that will cover the largest wall in the studio. Special lighting will show off the guilding to its best advantage. I can hardly wait!
Thanks again all who were involved!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how huge that panel is! I can't help but feel it has a perfect home too! I hope to peek at it sometime when it's hanging in it's final showcase.
I'm glad you opened the correct side "as the lid fell forward" lol.
I'm amazed it made it in one piece ...now I can sleep nights.
Dan, did you save my email on how to hang it?
For anyone who's interested on how it was put together, there is an article in this Dec. issue of Sign Business. All the craftsmen who participated are included....I only screwed up Joe Abners adress.... Sorry Joe.
I only hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!

Hi Dan. Glad it got there OK. That trucking company is really good, so I hope Joe didn't lose too much sleep - there was really little worry. Rodger
