Hi Brian... Hope the info I sent you is of some help. Hosting a big meet is an awesome responsibility and a huge endeavor.
DO Remember to enjoy yourself! DON'T Be afraid to delegate tasks.
I would try to base your meet on Pierre's. It was fun, it ran like clockwork, and it was highly organized...all big factors in having a successful meet. The most frustrating things about Mars for me were the way we grassroots letterhead types wait until the last minute to register (you will need funds early on) and people who promised me the moon and gave me zip. Good luck my friend and if you need me to do anything just call. Love- JILL

We hosted a big International in Sydney at the end of 2002, there are some pitfalls but few if you put all of your necessities on paper first up and then add to it as things progress, you are able to see most of the problems early. As Jill, love her, posted the hardest work involves getting the money in early.
Don't forget to contact your sponsors also ...when they hesitated during the phone calls I added "You Know, you need us as much as we need you, and where else are you going to get a captivated audience of 100+ consumers in one room?"
If you have the area you can also rent 6' x 3' trestle tables in a separate space for sponsors products at a reasonable price. . If you need any assistance in the Gilding area don't hesitate in asking.
As a final suggestion, contact Susan Banansky of Source Signs in Nanaimo BC, she just recently organised...with her little helpers...a very successfull meet a couple of months ago and I'm sure she be only too happy to advise...American problems may vary to ours down here but overall people are the same.
See you in August, regards
John

Delegate. Ya can't do it all alone. Ask people to help, family members, relatives etc. They are more than willing. Start building a very thick skin. Be ready to accomodate the Biggest Drunks to the Most Righteous Christans, everyone else is somewhere in-between. I always find that a Monster Truck and a Stripper on a Buffalo in a Parade make for a good way to get the party rolling! Need any more help, call me..... Good Luck, you'll be just fine!
Just remember, Letterheads was started by 7 guys in Denver in 1975 to better themselves and help the novice. It's that simple.

Don't 1. Leave valuables laying around such as pets, small children or priceless antiques (like Si Allen) ... paint will be applied to anything that sets still long enough. Don't 2. Forget the beer truck! Don't 3. Sweat it

We still have some of the "How To Host a Letterheads Meet...without going broke or getting a divorce" booklets available which Judi did as a Letterhead project. They are suggestions compiled from hosting two internationals and helping with many more. We think that it is a good reference for any meet host. We sell them for $20 which is basically our cost of production and postage. For every booklet sold between now and the first weekend in February, we will donate $4 to the Rick Glawson Memorial Fund at the museum.

Hey Mike...I "do" believe I can drink and drive the Monster truck while striping the stripper. If not I would give one hell of a try
