Here's a little bit of wine info/trivia for you to go with my food tips...

Beaujolais Nouveau 2003

November 20th will mark the release of the 2003 Beaujolais Nouveau.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a young, fruity wine which is made from Gamay grapes picked only two months ago. It's release each year is a celebration of the completion of the year's harvest. But did you know that according to French law Beaujolais Nouveau cannot be sold until after midnight, Paris time, on the third Thursday of November?

Beaujolais Nouveau is commonly served at Thanksgiving both because of the timing of its release and its compatibility with turkey and the other traditional accompaniments.

Bottles purchased during the first week of release tend to be a bit more expensive because the shipments are flown in from France. By the second week, the first boat shipments arrive and prices tend to drop a bit.

Kimberly.... I used to drive up to the wine country in Napa on occasion and do the wine tasting thing....
I hope to get a chance to do that again soon..
I have my favourites...Gamay Rouge from VeSatuie (sp?) and Black Mountain's Fat Cat Cabernet...(you can get that last one at Trader Joe's)

Kimberly, I actually saw a story on the news last night about the Cali vineyards struggling to make it because there is so much supply now, the price of grapes is only like 30% of where it was just a few years ago.

They even interviewed one vineyard that had ripped out half their fields to plant other more profitable produce.

I guess every industry has its price-choppers.. Suddenly it appears Charles Shaw might be the bad guy.
