How do I set the default back to something I can read??!!! (I have no idea how it changed anyway)

You go to tools/options/document/styles and set the default fonts and sizes for paragraph and artistic text etc , then go to document again and click the box that says "save options as default for new documents" , more or less the same type of thing in most versions

Adrienne. To add a couple of things to what Rodney said. After setting your default text and size, do NOT immediately click on OK...Rather go back to "documents" and do as Rodney said.
By the way...Since I know you cut directly to your Roland, you can also set the default outline to be "hairline" while in the same dialogue box. As you know, Corel's default outline for text is "no outline".

It's as Rodney said.It may be easy to overlook, because that Save-Options-as-Default box is greyed out and hard to read at first. Or at least for me.

gee, this just set off a lightbulb in my head. I wonder if there is any way to put a button on a tool bar to automatically go to the "tools/options/documents" and then "check" it. Maybe a script or something. I know this would take a little prrogramming, but I'll bet it could be done. That way you could change things on the fly. Just dreamin.............

Dave, creating extra menu items or 'buttons' in corel is as easy as getting devo to go for a ride on his Harley...
All you have to do is click n drag in the later versions but the problem with a button for the 'document' switch is that you have to make some change first or like was said the box is greyed out then remember to check the box before you leave
What I have may help though, I have the Style Properties icon on one of my toolbars, looks like this...
so that I can get to that part real quick if need be
With a shape or text selected when I hit that button it takes me straight to the controls for that item, I did it here to show you what I mean
text selected on screen
now I hit the style properties icon and...
but before I leave the workspace window I got into the habit of this...
It has become such an ingrained habbit that I don't even remember that I'm doing it, one click that most folk forget all the time which of course leads to lots of frustration
maybe one of the other heads has an easier way of remembering to select it
I know, A big red flashing banner that pops up when you go to hit the OK button!!!
maybe you could ask someone from MS... they know all about popups
cheers gail

thanks Gail. That helps a lot. I actually tried recording a script to go to the documents box and check it. I saved the macro, and then dropped a button for it into my toolbar. I thought is was working. (it did something) but not what I wanted.........oh well.....your method works in two steps, instead of several. Thanks.
