My wife, Sophie, and I were headed South on I-35 for Raymond Chapman’s Letterheads Revisited in our small motor home, the HMS Sophie. We received word our daughter had gone into labor and we made an immediate U turn, ditched the motor home, jumped in the family car and headed for the hospital, arriving simultaneously with our daughter and son in law.
A dozen hours later, we were blessed with the World’s Cutest, Most Intelligent, Talented and Gifted Grandson (at least of all those named David Alizandro Peña born at 2:49 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2003–I sure don’t want to start a flame fest with the others on this board who are blessed with their own World’s Cutest, Most Intelligent, Talented and Gifted Grandchildren).
I still can’t paint signs, but I will be able to revive my dormant diaper changing skills. Come to think of it, those diapers bear too strong a resemblance to my hand lettering talents.
I was at Raymond’s original meet 20 years ago and really wanted to be at the recent gathering but the joy I got Saturday tops any secular one. However, I did have a very nice phone visit with Raymond over the weekend.
Edited again to try to get the picture to work. I don't post enough pictures to remember how to get them to stay. In my star crossed eyes, my grandson looks far better than a red X does.

As my father was attempting to take a picture of me with my grandson, he told me to "Wipe that silly grin off your face". I told him, "Daddy, you couldn't get rid of this smile with a belt sander!"

Even after receiving a flu shot, I have managed to come down with the flu. For the last three days, I have not gotten to hold my grandson and I have no idea when I will be persona grata again.
AAARRRRRGH! This is torture! It's a good thing I have those 200 photographs to fall back on.
