This is a piece of expressionistic art (not my own), that kinda set me back a step. So much so that I took my wife to view it. At first, it shocked her to think I had taken an interest in it. Within minutes she had made a 180 in her opinion, and has ended up purchasing it for me as a gift. It is 4 feet square in size. It will hang in her corporate office.... It has had unusual effects on the few who have viewed it. It very much resembles the great actor Steve Buscemi, and may be... Hope some of you enjoy it.

Joey, I guess I should explain. It is being constructed right now, and that is where we can use a piece this large. I was attempting to describe the vast change in opinion she went through about it, in just a few moments

That's quite an interesting piece of art. I got the feeling that the left half was a worn and saddened young man and that the right was the same man, older, but content with his place in life. (The slight upturn of the smile.)
Thanks for sharing... Rapid

It evokes a strong emotional response, because it is so intense. Personally, I could not stand this in any of my living spaces, in particularly that big. I do see the artistic value of it, but I feel probably a lot like your wife did at first. Would be interesting to hear what was going through her mind when she changed her opinion about it. Great post though, thanks for sharing.

it's got lots of expression for sure...the artist seems to be in a dark place or troubled at the time...that's what i get out of it anyway. i've actually grown to like abstract art lately...probably because that's what i tend to paint...not out of choice...it's just what comes out. art is a cool thing!

To me it seems extreme. Perhaps that is what captures us, I don't know. But.. the use of color, shadows and strokes are extreme. The artist must be a bold person or maybe even an introvert who gets that freedom only through his art. There is something about the eyes also. After veiwing for a while he seems to be examining me instead of the other way around.
Jack, this character is capturing. But I don't think I would want him peering into my soul all day!

To me, he resembles what I think The Vampire Lestat would look like from the Anne Rice books. I like the colors. Love- JILL

I guess maybe I should input my feelings about it. I hope that some will take another view of it, and give a second opinion. I was pretty sure that it would give off a lot of different vibes.... To me, it doesn't evoke anything dark, sinister, sad, or that the artist was having a bad day. In fact I feel that he was having a very good day, to be able to put together such a thought provoking piece. The character seems very content, and really is just staring off into oblivion. If you will notice he doesn't seem to be focused on anything, but rather in a pleasant daydreaming state. Possibly a made up character actor, who has just put on a great performance, I feel the artist has created a masterpiece, but I'm not the one to determine that.
