Just a note that "R"Tape 4075 seems to word a LOT better for me. I had problems with the vinyl not releasing from the backing I was using TransferRite but the R Tape 4075 works Much better. It helps to squeegee the backside and pull it from the back too. OTOH GMI CV-300 is an alternative to Oracal 651.

Joe, Ol buddy, you musta had a bad experience with Oracal 651. I use it everyday, and love it.
It works better than any intermediate I have used. I tried bannercal (pure crap), 3m intermediate, and a couple others, and they were no comparison to the Oracal. But you are right about the 851, its the best premium I have used so far. [Smile]

john....its the way the 651 feels and works...to me it feels like plastic packageing..you know that stuff that everything you buy is sealed in. i used bannercal, only one i dont like is their red...the bannercal yellow is great for windows, no transparancy.

LOL, Joe you old coot [Wink] You'll never change your mind on 651 if God used it on his Harley hehe

glad to hear you still like that 851.

for the record (and I don't even work for Oracal anymore) 651 is "denser" than other vinyls and that is what gives it the lowest shrinkage and highest gloss with extraordinary conformability for an intermediate.

There's no other intermediate you can use over rivets, but I've done it (in the lab) and talked to quite a few folks who actually did it in the field. You'll have to work it a little (ok quite a bit) harder than a cast, but it will conform to a rivet and after it's heated it will stay there without tenting. Every other intermediate I tried this with tented 100% of the time. Oracal about 10% of the time and that was because I hadn't heated and rivet brushed it as well as I should have.

Of course they probably won't change the smell either [Wink]

Hey Joe, IT IS PLASTIC!!!! get over it.

I have the complete opposite to say about Oracal. Use alot of 651, havent used the 851 though. 651 goes through the edge great using Duracoat foils. We get less tiny dots with that combination than we do with 3m & gerber foils. Still prefer Avery FT1000 over anything else in the cast dept.
