Over the years I've done a lot of different things, but I get a lot of positive feedback on the way I "play" with color combinations on different projects.
Do you agree with them, or do you feel you do other things better?

yeah, I agree... I can often provide what they want myself, but if not I usually will take the time to refer them to someone who can, or get prices & quote to "get it done" for them.
My creative capabilities are not too narrow of a "specialty" in the customers opinion, but I have recieved good feedback on seeming like I want to help them, & have been given work that I was high bidder on because of that.

Problem solving. Identifying a clients visual communication needs and weakness's, then correcting them so their business profitability will increase as a direct result.
Image creation specialist you could say.

We are problem solvers and idea people. We often are solicited to give some marketing imput for a client. Sometimes it has nothing to do with signs. We are also logo and identity designers.

For awhile my specialty was collecting signs that I made for people that never came back to pick them up. That changed tremendously when I started getting 50% down with an order.
Now my specialty would be sandblasted signs, banners, and golf tourney coro signs.

Airbrushed items that can't be found at the usual t-shirt shops, Helmets, jackets, mailboxes or anything that won't run away including kids.
At least I'm getting to be known for doing old fashioned style signage and being on time and on bid.. As well as being able to do the newer styles and vinyl. Who knows, when I grow up I may yet become a sign painter!
Jill, honey, that charm comes right thru on the stuff you do. Everyone who has seen the "Rabid" panel you did for me at FKAB has made nice comments about the playfulness it shows. Kudos, kiddo.
Donald, I know what you mean. 50% down makes life grand, don't it? hehe
Jed, I have the same reputation building up here as an "old fashioned" sign maker. Really makes you feel good, as a Letterhead, to be considered that way by folks. ("Keeper of the Craft" thing)
Anyone else wanna chime in? Rapid

What it is, and what they seem to think it is are different things. Generally, I get a fair few routed sign requests, and of course striping, scrolling & lettering horse-drawn vehicles. Types of work come in phases though, I've done more banners in the past 3 months than the past 3 years, and ditto to screenprinting. Shops & billboards have eased right back for the moment.
