My one and only trip was a NESA show in '87, they've probably rebuilt /built new, whole new look to the town. You can go to Europe without thr hassle of overseas travel or pesky foreigners!
btw, how did the balsa go?hope it wasn't to light.

Yeah check out the Paris, among one of the many places to see in Vegas, they have some really neat aged signs painted on the walls and some heavy duty gold leaf work in there.

NESA... Vegas... 1987... John, how come I didn’t see you there?
A friend, his daughter, my daughter and I flew out there in a small airplane. As we pirouetted over the Grand Canyon admiring the scenery, my daughter got airsick. She still thinks the Grand Canyon looks like the inside of a barf bag.
Someone asked me to explain the difference between the signs of Vegas and Dallas. I told them: “Here, a sign company builds a 4' x 8' lighted sign and puts a sticker on it identifying itself as the maker. There, the sign company uses the 4' x 8' lighted sign as the sticker. The relative proportions between the sticker and the sign remain the same.”
Edited typo.

Thanks Cisco, gold and glass was what I was thinkin about so I might need to see paris I guess. And also, Hotlines himself would also be a must see, but I'm only there till Monday afternoon. So I'll just have to make the rounds and see what I run across. I'll be starting out from an old favorite where I'm staying, The stardust! May the gods of gambling be kind to me!

Dave and I had dinner outside at the french restaurant in front of the eiffel tower. It was so wonderful to watch the Bellagio fountains while dining. We went in October, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect.
We also stayed at the Stardust.
The Frontier has a great mexican restaurant.
We enjoyed a day at the old downtown section too.

Have fun Tim!! I'm sure your 'smiling face' will be seen all over town! lol
Only time I've been to Vegas was back in 93, painted some windows there, it was 120 degrees in the SHADE!!! It was SO dry I had to keep spraying water on my eyeballs so I could blink! Take pictures!

If you are flying in ...check out the three diminsional mural over the escalatorsrepreeanting several casinos's on the strip...It was a Mark Otis design creation (one of the original "heads")
I was in at his Denver shop when they were putting it together. It's about 12 tall and probably 100 across.
The entire project is made from sintra ...it's pretty amazing!
Hope you get to see it...a lot of the sign work in the Paris was also done by Otis and King, Denver.
