QUESTION: If you had 10 seconds on TV to mention the sign industry what would you say? [Roll Eyes]

I'm excited to have just been awarded a sign project for an upcoming show that will air on the Discovery station, Travel station and Twin Cities local news.

The production crew will be doing a small segment on the signage for this project. We'll get to talk about the project and signage in general. I'm excited more for the opportunity to have the sign industry represented (though only slightly) on Prime time National TV.

I'd really like feedback as to what you'd say. I sort of feel that it's a great opportunity and responsibility to do JUSTICE to the sign biz. [Applause]

Hoping for encouraging advice.

wE ARE NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY ENOUGH BY THE PURCHASING PUBLIC AS FAR AS GETTING PAID FOR WHAT WE DO. A good part of it is our own fault, but you don't need to over-convey THAT part!

I'd have a hard time selling that one Bob....
Though they did film the presentation. It's just a design, 2 owners, and me discussing options. Don't know how it'll come across. I'd like to plug the letterheads organization....

I'm just looking for any feedback that would make a few seconds count.

thanks

Bob's right, about SOME customers, but a negative comment won't go down well. Try "They're/we're creative geniuses just dying to help you better identify & promote raise your business profile, but quality costs and you only get what you pay for!" [Wink]
Good luck

I've done lots of interviews in years past. There's one important thing to remember...

It called editing. You can say twenty minutes worth of wisdom and they seem to pick the dumbest comments I make in the entire interview and make the segment 10 seconds long.

It often boils down to which questions the interviewer asks and how the editor cuts the takes to get the angle HE was looking for in the article.

A good editor with the right questions asked can slant the piece just about they want in the end.

Funny how it works.

What part of the sign industry? If it's a high end job, talk about craftmanship and design, if dealing with an architect or another designer you might mention "teamwork" that way you might be able to get more work, that way they will give you more work if it is successfull [Wink]

How about "FOR THOSE OF YOU CONSIDERING GETTING INTO THE BUSINESS BECAUSE IT LOOKS EASY AND FUN AND ANYONE CAN DO IT------PLEASE DON'T!-----We've got enough of your type already!"....heh heh heh!

Heed Dan's comments about EDIT. They can make you look like a knob even if you do have your act together. Ask to see the final edit, regardless of what you say....

How's about this....?

"QUALITY SIGNAGE IS STILL A VALUABLE ASSET TO A BUSINESS. SIGN IS SHORT FOR SIGNATURE. MARK YOUR BUSINESS WELL."

Hiya Matthew,
Make sure you and your crew wear the company shirts with your name, web site address and phone # on them.
If ya got 10 seconds, that will give ya just enough time to say your company name, phone # and web site address twice. See where I'm going with this? [Wink]
I can't add anything to what the others said.

Havin' fun,

Your sign is the first thing EVERYONE sees before doing business with you... and first impressions are never forgotten... good or bad.

Good Stuff....Thanks.

The project will consist of a double-sided road-side sign. Roughly 8'x10' with a contour cut aluminum composite background, faced with carved H.D.U. and Gemini Letters.

Additionally a smaller front entrance sign will be blasted out of H.D.U- 23k gilded carved
letters and Smaltz.

I'll inform how this process goes....I'm taking 7 days off to go elk hunting in Colorado. 1st time, God willing, I'll be able to come back and work like a dog!

THanks all, I appreciate the feedback!
