I got my panel shaped box from the postal carrier today! Knew in a heartbeat what it was. I guess I nad no idea who my panel would be coming from & that added to the suspense... What a nice job Sonny. I really look forward to finding just the right spot to show it off. I admired it on the post of panels the other day & had no idea which one would show up on my doorstep. With the luck of the draw, everybody is a winner, but I still feel like I got one of the panels that "speaks" to me.
Sonny, as soon as I opened it I realized 2 things I completely forgot to do... (my apologies to my victim) I didn't personally sign the back to my recipient, & only signed it with a sticker instead of a signature. Also I failed to even include a short note how impersonal... I guess the deadline & the boxing/shipping frenzy just got the best of me. (I think the midnight oil that was burnt to get it done must of burnt a few cells...
Anyway, I enjoyed the short personal note & will write a belated note to follow my panel across letterville to the new home of the Letterville Surf Shop.
I want to include a link to the BB copy of Sonny's panel pic, but I'm not sure if it will just turn into the whole slideshow. Guess I'll know in a minute.
My brother & I used to vacation with the family in Northern Ontario on a small island my dad bought while in collage where he built his summer cottage. He had told us the story of strapping his canoe onto the pontoon of a seaplane & getting dropped way back in the wilderness among numerous untouched islands to scout out one to purchase, & paddle back for 2 days to get the deed. I think the seaplanes that we would see fly by on occassion always held a greater amount of appeal to us after that. My brother said he would get one someday. He is now a surgeon in Seattle living on a houseboat near the one where "Sleepless in Seattle" was filmed. Although he says he no longer plans to get one... I wouldn't be surprised if he did. When I visited him 2 years ago, he took me to the other end of the lake for a surprise the morning before I left... a seaplane cruise! I got to sit in the co-pilot seat & took over the controlls for about 5 minutes. The best part was after flying well out over the sound, I got to steer a full 180° banked turn back twords some clouds. When the guy said "take it right through that opening in the clouds... what a rush!!! it was awesome I hope your seaplane trip in Nanaimo was as much fun as mine in Seattle. Since it inspired such a nice panel I would say that it must have been!
*edited to try & get the pic to show *

Thanks, Doug - I just got back from the post office and received your panel - it's fantastic. I didn't know we were exchanging with each other until it got here. I moved some stuff and now it's the first thing you see as you walk into the office.
I'll wait til the sun's up in your part of the world, and give you a call later and shoot the breeze. Thanks again, it really looks great.

Thanks for the call Sonny... sorry I had to imitate static noises in my cell phone, so I could politely (?) excuse myself to eat that nice plate of hot food that got set in front of me right when the phone rang. I'll call you in a few... I just got back to the shop.
