Netties post about accomplishments got me thinking about goals that I haven't met yet.

I feel like I've accomplished alot of small victories in the last five years since starting my sign business, but I've got a long way to go yet.

My goals in business are:
1. to continue to improve my design skills
2. to increase my productivity/workflow to help generate more income
3. to be a better business person
4. to develop a more professional business image and set up a website
5. to work on my hand-lettering skills

Goals for my personal life include:
1. continuing to raise happy, healthy kids
2. continuing a great relationship with my husband
3. renovating our new house and creating a "home" (while continuing a great relationship with my husband...this one may be tough!!! ha ha)
4. getting a little heathier, eating better, more exercise...

We've got a busy year coming up, and I'm looking forward to it!

Suelynn

Lotsa similar thoughts here Suelynn.

Business:
1. Get my shop built & set up exactly how I want it
2. Improve design skills
3. Increase workflow (and control my boredom or what I call "my ADD" so I can stay focused on 1 thing instead of jumping project to project)
4. Work on hand lettering, gilding and carving

Personal:
Consciously make sure people know how much they mean to me.

Wow... those are some lofty goals.

My first goal every day is to take a breath. If it works and I can still see, then I figure I got the rest of the day licked. Not stepping into a dog pile when I get out of bed is a bonus. [Wink]

Spelling edit.

Bruce, you've already got the business and the design skills under control, so you don't need as
long a list! [Big Grin]

Yup, I've got goals too.

Be more productive.
Improve design & work skills.
Get a shed and clean out the shop!
Carve something.
Continue with yard renovations
Take time to play creatively, for fun, not profit.
(paint, sew, refinish, cook, garden ...)
Continue with home improvements
Be more helpful to my mom
Stay healthy, get better fit, drop afew pounds

I've accomplished nearly every goal I set in life with the exception of two.

Its nice knowing I'll die with no major regrets.

A few years ago I made a new year's resolution to stop setting challenging goals and quit making new year's resolutions, cause I always set them a bit too high.

I am proud to say, that's the only new year's resolution I've ever been able to abide by. [Smile]

I still do set goals for myself, but I put no time constraints on them thus eliminating the challenge factor. [Smile] My goals get achieved whenever I feel like it. [Smile]

Edit: Oops.. forgot to list these goals I plan to achieve eventually..

Short term (like within the next year, can't put too much on my plate at once, ya know.. hehe):

Complete the first phase of my new automotive accessory product line and submit it to the major aftermarket mailorder companies

Further develop my new jewelry product line

Finish the bodywork on my minitruck and get that bastard painted finally! [Smile]

Long term:

Nah... can't think that far ahead... [Smile]

All right Bob, what are/were those two? (& have you changed your mind about them, or are they still on the list!?)

  • experience hand lettering
  • attend a live meet
  • make a new building sign for myself with some carved HDU & some gold leaf
  • put graphics on my new (18 month old)truck
  • try out my new pinstriping brush that I bought along with my first pack of gold leaf 10 months ago as part of my new years resolution
  • learn to call my new pinstriping brush a "liner" or "dagger" or "striper" or whatever its supposed to be called, once I've used it
  • learn (even more then this site has already helped me to) let those high numbers roll off the tounge with confidence as I continue to bring my prices up
  • finish up some shop improvement projects (from back when I lived here & could accomplish seemingly un-ending amounts of improvements because I had virtually no home improvements or maintenance chores due to having no home.)
  • learn to accept help, delegate responsibility, trust my help, & force myself to go home at a decent hour more often then not [Smile]

Get a few major jobs per month, to cover the minimum income that I need, work my butt off for a couple weeks to get them out, and just hang around the shop for the rest of the month, playing with my brushes, and reading the BB. [Smile]

To smile and have people smile with me.

To see my daughter graduate Boston College as an artist.

To watch my other two children become what they will be.

To retire to a nice warm beach and sit on a porch overlooking the ocean, spending my days whittling chess pieces for my friends....still smiling.
