I'm debating buying a laminator for our large format prints. We have been laminating by hand for some time now and we've become quite good at it but it is time to get a laminator. I'm leaning toward a cold laminator as I don't see a real need for hot laminating. I'm looking at the Quickmount 3 55" press. Anyone have one of these?

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Brian

I have one that I use with my FJ. Once you get the hang of it, you can laminate a 4X8 by yourself,
provided you have the optional foot switch. For the price, its hard to beat!

I have one too. No way can I run mine by itself even with the foot switch. I have never been able to get the take up spool to work in synch with the feeder roll.

The little gear on the take up reel is poorly designed and causes too much slack on the belt and it’s even come off. I had to take it apart once because the shear pin on the motor gear popped off.

The way we get it to work is for one of us to manually put tension on the supply roll while the other manually turns the take up reel.

We manage to get the laminate on without too many cock ups most of the time. I will say that the laminate does make a big difference on your prints.

It’s cheap to buy and cheaply built but for entry level you won’t find anything better at that size.
