Here's one for ya Mike... Customer has a pylon sign with neon..not originally built for surface mounted neon but adapted with PK housings through the aluminum structure. The problem is when the pylon flexes in the wind the neon snaps where it goes into the housings. You'll go out pull a piece of neon jump the housing and take the neon home for repair, when you get back with the new piece more are broken so you install your new piece take the broken piece with you and repeat as often as necessary til you finally get it all working again...then when the wind blows you start all over again. I've tried to turn down the work but the customer keeps calling..he refuses to call the guy that built the sign. All the transformers in the sign were installed used so most of them have been replaced. This sign is about three years old and probably has not worked in it's entirety more than 60 days. The client always pays for the repairs but everytime I have to listen to how much he paid for the sign and why does it keep breaking..I don't see any way to take the flex out of the pylon..I'm thinking the next step would be to surface mount the neon with turnbacks instead of going into PK's..I probably should have done this the first time out but I really didn't figure out the problem immediately. Any suggestions?
Dave
