You know what I'm talking about, those boards that they have at basketball games that keep track of who plays who, what time the games are, who progresses on to the championship, etc. We have been making them 4X8' out of a material called bathboard at our local lumberyard. We put the lines on there in black vinyl. This seems to work well as you can use dry erase markers to write the team names on the lines. One BIG board that we did (8X16') used celtec panels for each team in the school colors of the team with velcro to attach the panels. The problem is this school want them do both! The want to have the panels for their big yearly tournament, but also have the capabilities of writing in the names for the P.E. classes when they have tournaments. The PROBLEM with that is them I have this big piece of Velcro in that space. I'v thought of the idea of having the velcro on both ends leaving the center open, but it doesn't seem to be enough Velcro to velcro to hold those panels up there. Just thought soemone out there has dealt with this problem before and has the perfect solution for me!! Any ideas? Oh, and a BIG P.S....of course, it's a parochial school. So it has to be fairly cheap.

Hi Jane, what about using blank coroplast pieces for this purpose? You could leave the velcro in place, the coro needs only two little pieces to attach to it, it can be writen on, they can move the names without rewriting them, and best of all: cheap, cheap. Just an idea, whaddaya think?

Hi Jane. One possible solution that might work is to change your base substrate to a piece of sheet metal with the edged folded back. This could then be sprayed white and the lines done as you now do. The difference would be to use small pieces of magnetic sheeting (possibly in the school colors) for each team in the tournament. When being used for in-house tournaments, they could then resort to the dry markers.
PS: If the school teaches technical courses and has a metal shop, perhaps they could supply the necessary sheet of metal, and perhaps even paint it...if they have an auto body shop. That way they could affect some real savings. If not, sheet metal isn't all that expensive, but it does allow the use of the magnetic sheeting.
Hope this helps you out.

The bathboard is cheap enough. Just cut some blank pieces to match the logos, add velcro to these and they can use either one. The blanks will allow use of dry erase, plus if someone uses a Sharpie instead, you can make them a replacement panel instead of a new sign.
