Here in Edmonton we are staying in hotel rooms. Its comfortable enough but it does get old in a hurry! (only 4-5 weeks more to go! )

I am doing some sketching and reading to fill up the time I'm not working. The TV is often on as well.

THe disovery channel is often on and I've found lots of inspration there.

This week is "BIKE WEEK". WHile not much of a motorcycle type guy I am facinated by the process of fabrication of these monsters. They are currently featuring a build off between top builders of custom bikes. The guys have 30 days to put together a custom creation and then they drive the bikes to a meet and they are judged by the crowd.

I love seeing these guys work their magic on steel! While I won't be building a custom bike, I can hardly wait to get home to my new shop to work some magic of my own!

Oh yeah I love them Bike shows. On Saturday I was doing a 24K leaf job on a Kenworth. One of the guys said to me ' Hey I seen the gold leaf stuff on Orange Coast Choppers".I said "Thats right, just like Orange Coast Choppers".

Alicia, if your doing real gold leaf, then its nothing like the guy on Orange County Choppers.
He used Signgold, which in itself is a very good product, however I feel slighted when he states that this this is the way it has been done for a very long time. Im hoping what you are talking about is the true OLD Time method of using sizing and sheets of patent gold leaf then spinnig it yourself.

My neighbors 3 year old kid can apply signgold probably just as well as that guy can. But Not nearly as many people can do even close to that quality with real gold leaf.

My 2 cents for today!

edit= add in comment.....

I do find those shows entertaining to a point.

But I must agree with many on the bullboards that any one of a bunch of the people here could do the same thing given the right money, tools and being in the right place at the right time.
Arent you tired of Paul and Paul Jr. yelling at each other and Jesse be-littling(is that a word) the teamates?
Wouldnt it be nice if they gave Mike Lavalle more time on the rodeo car show, I mean 30 seconds wasnt nearly enough to let people see how involved a job he did.
Most people probably think it was a sticker or was super easy to do. If it were so easy wouldnt everyone be doing that?

I know,I know, even my untrained husband noticed the difference. He said I should mail them a panel with some real gold scroll work on it, complete with asphauium shading. But it just goes to show you, that even guys like the OCC bunch don't know the difference.
