My son-in-law has been home for 15 days on R&R and left tonight to go back to Iraq. We had a good time, he got a chance to see his son for the first time, and we all took time to work on their house that they started building before he left in March.
I thank you in advance to those who will pray for his safe keeping.

Your family will be in our prayers. God bless those who are over there sacrificing their lives and safety to preserve ours. We should all concentrate on this on a daily basis, as sometimes we get caught up in our businesses, toys, or squabbles. Our problems may be significant, but, this is an extreme situation. I also pray for our leaders who have such an erroneously difficult job and they do need our support in prayer either way to help them make the correct decisions. So, whichever political view we take, there is no excuse not to give our fellow human being the respect and time they deserve in our thoughts, prayers, and actions. Thank you for bringing this to light, Laura. Also, may I add that I am bringing the post back about W.J. that is now back and safe in Ft. Campbell, KY. I chatted with his mom quite often. He is still awake at night and has headaches from the concussion that he suffered when the guard shot him twice, but, was spared with wearing his helmet and very quick thinking on his part. He has a new wife and it is wonderful to have his safety for now. Just a little good news of this all. And here's hoping that we can have peace amongst each other to secure our homeland. Being alert and aware through reading and discussion, giving and forgiving. God Bless America

I'm glad he got to return home for awhile & see his child, & that you got to see him. I appreciate all his sacrifices & pray for his safety as he returns to Iraq.
Whether we agree or disagree with the situations and circumstances that call on our military, our soldiers do not get to choose the battles they fight, the causes they serve. When the call goes out, they put their lives on hold, leave their families, homes, jobs and go to where they are needed. They stand on that line, in conditions we don't want to think about, in strange lands so we can sleep peaceably in our own beds. They do not get to say "I don't agree with this fight, so I think I'll pass on this one".
But what they say by their actions speaks volumes. When they sign their name on that sign-up sheet, they say "I love this country. I will leave all that I know, putting my life on hold and on the line to serve and protect her and my fellow man, whenever and wherever she needs me. When the call goes out, I will be there, at the ready."
These men and women can't choose which battles to fight, they're just there to fight them. They deserve our respect, admiration and appreciation. They have mine.
