I think networking stuff.........pro has more of it or something.
I have xp home and about the only thing I don't like is that you can't use 95/98 drivers....so if you have an older printer you might want to check into driver availablility. Other than that it doesn't seem to be any faster or better than 98 to me....just a little different.
For what it's worth, I kind of wish I would have put 98 on it as soon as it came in.

I have both, and at first I used XP home at home and had no problems. Now i need VPN networking and it uses XP pro. So im stuck having to buy another XP PRO.. XP home will be great for most all users.
XP pro has advanced networking abilities and security.

We just got a new EXPENSIVE software package and it doesn't like XP Home at all. Everything else seems to work OK but we may have to upgrade for the new stuff though!!
Go with Pro and save some headaches.

I have both & I can't say if you will need pro, but if you don't get it now, it will cost more like $180 later, so for $70 & the fact that as time goes on more stuff will be geared twords a newer OS, sounds like a well spent $70 to me.

Can anyone tell me the "real" limitations on networking XP Home?
Since I am a one man operation and I only have 2 computers I have no problem networking them. Is there a limitation like no more than 10 computers or something?
If that is the only real difference then I can feel happy about only having "home" edition.

Just read the comparison in the link i posted above...
There is no real limitations for using XP home for about 95% of all users.
However, If you ever start using certain features such as VPN networking and other higher level file operations through the internet from office to ofice or office to home then you must have XP pro.. If you don't know what VPN is then you need only XP home..
IF you decide to start VPN type networking then that will cost you hundreds later to buy a client and server...
IE. There is one VPN client and server package that I am looking at is over 3 grand.. Checkpoint Enterprise VPN
So, over all if you have a choice to spend only $70 bux to get the Pro version then get it,,
By the way, there is another version of windows comming out in about 20 months, called longhorn.. Another complete change????
