I won't bore you with the details of my long and arduous journey to buying a new stereo receiver and speakers but I have them now and...WOW!...I'm in audiophile heaven.

The first receiver I bought didn't have the phono jacks that the advertisement claimed it had. I have over 3000 albums and still play a lot of them so phono jacks are a must. Have you tried to buy a receiver with phono jacks lately? Pretty much no one makes them anymore and the ones that are out there are PRICEY. I finally found a really good Onkyo.

Okay, then I got it home and the speakers (36" floor jobs) that I got just weren't up to the capabilities of the receiver I bought so I figured if I was going to cough up $$$, I might as well get something awesome. Just got back from buying a pair of Infinity Floor speakers, hooked them up to my Onkyo and...WOW!...I know I'm repeating myself but I'm excited.

I haven't heard Pink Floyd sound like that since '88 at the Oakland Coliseum. [Cool] [Cool] [Cool]

I've been playing everything from Pink Floyd to Santana to Prince to Cat Stevens to Paul Simon to Joan Armatrading checking the sound. This is too much fun.

Hey Kimberly...
So happy for you. I remember back in high school, listening to Cat Stevens & Bob Dylan, laying on the bedroom floor with my head between my two crappy little K-Mart speakers late at night so my parents didn't hear me, it was so cool.
I am a music lover too, but I just live vicariously thru CDs now...the phono broke & my ex took all my albums. My kid just put a CD player in my truck, and I jam when I drive. My favorite is "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals. It makes my hair stand on end.
Happy listening...just watch out for those darn black widow spiders!
Love- JILL

That is so kewl! I've been going to Kazaa for
audio, and I was wondering if you've hooked up
your *new* computer to your *new* sound system?

I just love putting on some MPegs, and let it sit
in the background while I work on the computer.
Edgar Winter, Pink, Zep, Doobie Brothers,
Supertramp, and so many more.

I stacks of vinyl, tucked away in the closet,
almost fills the damn thing up. My old(1980) tube
Kenwood amp, that weighs a ton, still works. The
turntable (techniques SLD-2) made vinyl sound
like you were actually there. Can't get that from
CDs.

Thanks for taking me down Memory Lane.

Kimberly,

Let me know when you're ready to make your car into a rolling rock concert, I can help you there. [Smile]

Thanks Mike,

I have a six speaker infinity system in my Chrysler mini-van...it ROCKS! :-)

Richard,
No. I haven't hooked it up to my computer but I have some pretty great speakers on there already.

Jill,

If I had a dollar for every night I spent laying on the floor in the dark when I was a teenager listening to albums...

Kimberly,

I have 8 speakers in my truck, all up front in the doors.. not counting the subwoofers which are getting new enclosures. [Smile]

You just havent heard Pink Floyd until you've heard 'em at 160dB. [Smile]

I picked up "The Matrix Reloaded" on DVD last night and I gotta tell ya, get a home theater system.
I had only the TV speaker when it started, but once I turned the Daewoo on....WOWSERS! That movie is why Dolby Surround Sound was invented!

I also have my PC patched into it with a couple of RCA plugs and an adapter wire. Makes my windows media player sound like a concert hall.
