Trying to understand the dollar dynamics of the publication world. We get the mag free. Advertisers pay big bucks to get their name in front of us. Compare this to the other mags that charge the advertisers and the subscribers. This is like if we could charge the business that orders the sign and also get some bucks from everyone that reads it!

Yeah! All good stuff too. Franciscos article was great, Daves was too, as was Dans, and Jerry Mathels article on sign failures, etc. was right on. Great stuff from our letterhead friends.

I used to read Sign Builder Illustrated, until, without notice, the new publisher decided to cancel the free subscriptions for Canadian shops.
The response from SBI was: "too bad" when I questioned their decision. I wish the advertisers would say something about the decision by SBI, they could be promoting and selling their products to Canadian shops.

It looks like SBI is going to keep getting better all the time. I just got an e-mail from the editor and he indicated that our very own Adrienne Morgan is going to also be writing for the magazine. Way to go Adrienne!

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't seen the article yet.... it sounds like because I'm a Canadian I may have to contact them to send me a copy.
Hey Adrianne... I didn't know we were on your web page! Cool! Brings back lots of fun memories of the good times that were had with that fabulous crew. Every time I see some pictures I sure miss them all!
Anybody up this way... we open April 15 for the season. I'll be heading over that way in about two weeks to set up house and studio. Hopefully permanently this time.
I look forward to seeing all the other's work in SBI when I finally get ahold of a copy.
Keep on havin fun!!

Thanks also from Cindy and I for the kind words about the magazine articles.
I am very new to writing articles and to be in the company of the other SBI writers is overwhelming. Cindy helps out greatly. We want are articles to teach. We want them to make sense, and we want to share what ever we can to make them enjoyable to read (without getting silly ) and give you some "out of the box" ideas.
One thing everyone should remember about magazine articles that are written: ONCE THE ARTICLE AND PICTURES GET SENT IN, THINGS CHANGE! The writer loses control.
In other words, some of the story gets hacked and some of the pictures get tossed. Space is very valuable in a magazine. The Editor, who wants great articles, fights for the space just like the owners who need to fill the magazine with adds to pay the bills. I'm glad I don't have the editors job! Its hectic!
Many of the article pictures I sent in were not used. I bet there are more pictures of Giggle Ridge that were sent and not used, as well as the other writers.
But, not to worry!... we are all here on the BB to fill in the missing pieces. If you have questions, ask away. Im sure all the writers would be happy to add further explainations to round out the story!
Now if we could just get SUPERFROG to hang out here in Letterville....hmmmmmmmmm.
