All my off cuts of vinyl you know those scrappy pieces of lots of different sizes and colors are thrown on to a shelf and layed flat.
There has to be a better way. How do you do you store yours?

We roll them up and put them INSIDE the cardboard tube of the SAME color.

When that color of vinyl is needed on the next job, check the inside of the tube first to see if any scraps are big enough to start the project.

Don't wory, there will always be scraps. So you could just charge an extra $10.00 on a job and toss the scraps out. Fumbleing over them daily wastes time, and time is money. Same with scraps of substrates, organize them, then start pitching them in the trash every week, a few each week. If you don't use them in a year, why move them around all the time to get to something you need? [Smile]

Trash can!!

If it's less than about 12"-18" long, it goes right into the trash! Anything longer, it gets rolled up and stuck inside the same color tube, or another color tube if I dont have more of that scrap color onhand.

it all goes in the flat files... gets donated to elementary school teachers every 4-6 monthes...DON'T THROW IT AWAY, THEY LOVE THAT STUFF! (3' or more I save inside the tube for a while... after a year any odd color scraps usually get flat-filed for the kids even if 3 or 4 feet

Flat on a shelf below the weed table. Then to a big box for area schools to rummage through for art classes or that guy who just needs a piece for whatever. Then to the trash can.

I roll mine on the OUTside of the roll. (i kept forgetting to check inside the tube, and some of the scraps got sort of scuffed from the wall hanger rack thingy). Whenever i need a color the scrap is there, with a small piece of tape telling me how big it is. I don't keep tiny scraps, just the longer or wider pieces.

I hardly ever use my scraps either, I donate them to my sons preschool.

Kinda makes that feature of the friction fed plotters obsolete now doesnt it? [Razz]

What scraps!?? We use it all! Bigger pieces get stored inside tubes of same color; my sons get some; schools get some; my sons' backyard clubhouse has a coroplast roof that's decorated with every color of vinyl "shingles". We tape packages & presents with vinyl. Central air conditioning ducts here got covered with vinyl when the original 30 yr. old covering deteriorated. Does any of it make it to the trash? Well, only if our plastic trash barrel needs to be patched with a few layers of vinyl. What can YOU do with vinyl?

I vote to donate it to schools/preschools. I did that for my son's preschool and I get a kick out of these pictures that land in my kitchen that are very reminicent of my work. Why throw it away if someone can use it?
