Here's what's going on with the meet we are having on Saturday, Oct. 18
The focus seems to be drifting toward sandblasted HDU and gold leafing...we have a lot of HDU pieces that will be ready to use if anyone wants to try a project. We have been contacted by Signfoam and they are sending some panels too.
We will also have aluminum for painted projects. Robbie's son Jake(co-hosts) will demo the Gerber Sabre router, showing some pole cover treatments he has been doing in foam and PVC.
Mike Facemire from Gold Leaf Letters in Port Richey is coming, and will have some door prizes... and don't forget Dusty Yaxley who is bringing his wife and son, and will be demoing his carving and chisel care techniques.
We are going to be at the shop Fri. in case anyone comes early, and we can assist anyone with room reservations, should you decide to stay over.
I'll be posting a map and a list of who we think is coming soon. Remember it's a free meet, and we would love to see a good turnout.

I'm still hoping to make it for the day. I would love to get some gold leafing tips for my church sign that could be bought soon if the fundraising goes well.
We are trying to make it work!

I'll be there. This will be the closest Letterhead Meet I've been to yet. I won't even have to get a room?! How about canines? My dog Bowie says she wants to go, seeing that it's so close!

Amy...I hope you guys can get here....this is the perfect place for you to get some hands on gold leaf for a day. My cohost Robbie does tons of gold leaf, mostly v-carved foam signs, so does Mike Facemire, I understand. His company is on the back inside cover of Signcraft.

I'll do my best make it there also but won't know until the last minute. If I come it will just be for the day and I'll likely ride the bike there.

Bob... I'd sure like it if you could make it. I'm a fan of your work and would like to meet you. You'll really like Robbie and Janet...they're cool people. Also very talented musicians...Janet has an all girl bluegrass band, and man can she sing. They also used to have a 10 piece musical revue called the Blues Brothers, doing the old Jake and Elwood thing...Robbie looks like John Belushi, so that was his role...great stuff !
Sorry to digress from the topic folks.........

Hey folks...'looks like a nice turn out for this Saturday so far. If you're still thinking about coming, it should be a good chance to try some relief carving or some gilding. And if you want to try some brushwork, we have several people with over 30 years experience; now's not the time to be shy...they'd all be willing to help someone learn. It's part of our heritage. One of my influences in sign painting, Hubert Jeffcoat is coming over for awhile...he's I believe, 86, and can still swing a brush, although I think he's swinging golf clubs now.
As you may notice, there are some new names on the list. Also, rumor has it that Tubelite is going to be here with some brushes for sale.
Also, would those attending please bring your own beverages? We'll have ice and cups on hand, and will have coffee and donuts there in the morning. For lunch you can either break for an hour and go eat somewhere, or we can order just about anything to be delivered to shop.
Thanks......

It sounds really fun! I wish I were closer, so please post good pix like Steve said! that will bring the rest of us up to speed...please get closeups, maybe a project in process for us to share! (I can just hear the music now, probably a real laid back meet with perfect weather in Fla about now, huh?) Have a blast.

Im back in one piece. Left Z-Hills at 8:00am on the bike. Would like to thank Robbie and Jeff for inviting everyone to their shop for this fun one day meet.
I got to meet some people for the first time that I've known through the board for years and also some of the oldtimers I know from many years back.
Weather was splendid. Very laid back which is what I prefer. Some good demonstrations for people interested in carving and gold leaf.
I had to leave earlier than most to get back before the weather turned cold. No speeding tickets either way there.
Steve you said to take pictures so I have twenty or thirty to send you.
Again thanks to the hosts.
