Printing promotional banners for a regional chain. Have been printing stuff for them for years and everytime I have to re-create the artwork. Their in-house graphic design department provides the art. I receive decent (glossy 11x17) camera ready separations ... our camera has been two rooms of dust for a while now ... scanning works out "ok" (lots to clean) but not great for text. I usually retype after finding out what font they used ... the Only file type they can provide is mac quark files which are useless to me ... but what do I know ... THEY are the "graphics designers" hahaha
Anywho ... the current job is done in Lucida Grande Bold. I searched (to buy) and as far as I can tell this font is only available for the mac OSX. There's a crapload of Lucida fonts available for pc but not that one? If I can't find it, it's not that special that I can't use a close enough font ... the "designers" wont know the difference.

Rick, thanks for the offer. While I wouldn't think twice about buying the font and charging it back to them or using a close enough font ... I don't want to ask favors of anybody to do it for me. (them) If it was THAT important to them they could provide me more than a blank stare.
This was the first time when I'd actually had the name of the font but couldn't find it anywhere ... unless it was referenced to a mac. So I'm guessing it is a Mac only font ... therefor thier new favorite font.

Hiya Mark, I have Lucida Grande as a type 1 font, but, not the bold version. Unfortunately, I don't recall when or where I acquired it. It states that it's coprighted by Bigelow & Holmes. A quick search led me to Microsoft's web site. There are more links to follow from Microsoft. While the duo have apparently made a few 'Lucida" fonts, I didn't find a link or a discription for Lucida Grande Bold.
Good luck,
Checkers

Judy your link appears to just be Lucida Sans not Lucida Grande Bold.
This font appears to be a Macintosh system font only. Your only legal recourse to obtain a PC version is for the "designers" to supply the a copy of the font to you and then convert it in something like Fontographer to a PC version if you need to reset the type.
The best course of action, IMHO, is to tell the "designers" to export their Quark file as an EPS (Quark does this just fine) and supply that to you for production.
