I'm a goal oriented guy. And when I reach a goal I reward myself. I set small achievable goals constantly all through the day. And reach them most times.
Often the reward is minor, and to some even silly, but it works for me.
Today was a day of many interuptions as things wind down on our building project. Lots of loose ends to tie up for sure. I installed the studio windows today. - Theat was a major accomplishment! We took the perenials to the greenhouse for the winter. And all the old leftover paint went to the recycler's.
We pulled in the heavy conductors through 300 feet of conduit to the shop. And all the construction debris was cleaned up for a final time. And a ton of little jobs were completed too.
It was a productive but hectic day.
I felt a reward at the end was well deserved. The prize I chose you ask???
I chose the reward miles.
That is to jump on the John Deer garden tractor and give the lawn the once over at a nice slow pace. The lawn wasn't in desparate need of a mow. But I find it most pleasurable to run the mover over it and trim everything up nice and neat. When it was all done I sat and sipped my Coca Cola and admired the view and did a little dreaming of the next stages of the project. It's gonna be fun!
I was so pleased with that job I decided to go one step further with this reward business... so I went out to the new shop and gave that a sweep as well. And did some serious dreaming there as well!
Tomorrow is my day off, sort of... no employees are coming in on that day. I get to work all by myself for the whole day. Got lots to do and its gonna be fun! I sure I'll think of a good reward at the end of it!

I like the way you call these enticements rewards! Great idea!
My current reward for a productive week is to (can anyone guess??) go camping again. This awesome weather has got to end sometime and I can't let it slip through my fingers. Playing is so much fun.

They say "change is as good as a break" (who said that anyway... anyone know?) Somehow I'm not surprized that Dan's idea of a "reward" is to mow the lawn... & an "extra-extra reward" is to sweep the floor! At least you gave yourself a Coke
i thought i was in for some famous giggle ridge hospitality.
i just couldn't figure out what i had done to deserve it.
OR ELSE, HERE'S A THOUGHT
let's follow Dan's lead and start a campaign of rewarding someone you know called Miles. it' not my idea but since Dan suggested it and we know Dan can't be wrong then let's go with it.
