Hi Heads. Just in case anyone cares, Mars is having its 19th annual Apple Festival this Saturday, October 4th, from 9am-5pm. I will be re-doing the window splash at Suzie Q's Place. I plan to draw & base-coat it before 10am, then I will be doing facepainting at the chamber of commerce booth from 10-2. Afterwards, I'll do the day-glo & outline. If anybody wants to stop by for a look-see or to pitch in, you are more than welcome. It is great to see all the murals, and the almost-painted train station. There are also tons of classic cars, a pie contest, a beautiful baby contest, live music, and more pierogies & halushki than you can shake a stick at. We can buy a case of Iron City & meet up back at my place for pizza. Just don'tlook at the mess! TTFN& Love- JILL

Sorry, folks...no Cake Walk in Mars. That's at the festival Fiddles works at. Martians are too hip to cake-walk. They only know how to moon walk. love-JILL

Jill, besides moon walking, you surely have brought alive a heritage to your town of Mars! All the hard work of your meet and you just still keep going, keeping that spirit alive! You're quite a legend! And, what a great family you have to support your efforts, kudos to them too.
I think back and really would have liked to make it to the Mars, physically, but, I have been following the progress since you started planning. The murals were awesome, and looks like the townfolk just put the story right into action!

Hi heads... as usual w/all my posts, this one is going over like a turd in a punch bowl... BUT I did get a taker- Bill Berberich is coming over after Applefest and we will do the glass gilding on my project fro the Letterville Panel Swap. As it was only 29 degrees here this morning, and supposed to rain (after all, it IS Mars!) tomorrow, I'm sure I will have a grand time doin' Suzie's splash. It will be fun painting on all the kid's faces tho. Love- JILL

I wish I could come but with my Mom just having surgery and she will have more next week so I cannot make it this year. She is worried this time not like the last two surgeries so I will be spending time with Mom this weekend.
Sorry! I had a nice time at the Mars Apple Festival in 2001.
Maybe next year,
Debbie

Body painting at the Chamber of Commerce?! Hey Now! They sure are open minded up there in Mars aren't they? If it was a little warmer than 29 degrees in the big city, I might have caught a plane up there for that activity. I think I'll just gather round the punch bowl, and stay warm with the other turds. Have fun, and stay warm Jill.

Hi all I promise, this will be my last post on this ded thred... It did rain, it was cold, got a few peeks of sun here-n-there. Painted 60 beautiful children's faces, using a techinque I experienced first hand by some gypsy lady face painters at the Fringe in Edinburgh last August. No Sponge Bobs, Punkins, etc. today in Mars, all those kids got cool filligree and glitter curliques. Everybody loved it, and it was damn good fun for me! Suzie Q's has a new splash, if I knew how to post pics I'd send one in. Now, I'm gonna go thaw out my nose & try to get the creases outta my arse from sitting on an upended Pepsi crate all day! love-JILL
