I've been reading a really neat book by Don Aslet, called: "Clutter's last stand". It's about how people hold on to stuff they don't need or use, and never will. It's in depth, but humorous, a cartoon on just about every page.

He talks about more than junk possesions though. He also talks about junk habbits and junk jobs and junk relationships.

So I'm reading it and thinking about myself, and decided I ought to give up my late night snack. For years now, just before going to bed, I've had a snack, usually while reading a book or checking out the BB.

So I quit that about 4 or 5 days ago, and I felt the benefits immediatly. All sleep isn't created equal you know. And I have more energy in the day. It's not anything I actually feel, I don't spontainiously burst into song like Maria on the Sound Of Music, but I don't have to force myself to do the next task, like sometimes before.

James,
Last year I was diagnosed with acid reflux disease, and have since been a lot more conscious, not only of what I eat, but when.

In the past I did the late night meals and snack deal, but these days I sleep much more soundly by eating dinner a little earlier and burning some of it off with a short walk or other light activity. Sugary or acidic foods (tomato sauce) can really ruin a good night's sleep.
This has been working out so well, I seldom have to take the Nexium pills these days.

A comfortable pillow helps too.... [Smile]

i shouldnt be talkin here as iam guilty of eating...MQF(mass quantities of food)but will add to this thread a couple things. when i quit eating meat, i threw away the 4 roll packs of rolaids i had in the house, car, and truck. also i quit drinking cokes/pepsi/sodas with all the sugar in them. i now drink the canada dry flovered seltzer, no sugar, no sodium, no calories. i also increased juices, like cran ras, oj, and unsweetened iced tea. as of today i cant even drink a soda....unless i add ice and let it melt!!! sugarand high salt products will cause acid reflux when injested in large quanities. i have one late night thing....3-6 oz of milk just before i lay down....been doin this since life on the dairy farm.(58-63). most of you know iam a vegitarian, and most who have seen me coment on my weight. ive overcome meat, sweets, sodas, breads, but i love home fries, french fries and most any way you can cook a potato!!!! but these deep fried ones are my favorites(as you can tell from my waistline).as of last week, when i got back from 40thclass reunion(only 2 people there of large size, me and my 370lb best freind from high school)and this i see is not a good thing.
as a vegitarian iam over half waythere with this lifestyle, again the quick eat and run crap foods are the ones that are so bad for ya. bag of corn chips and salsa, doretoes, cheetoes, fritoes, and these are all like LAYS POTATO chip add to me..."you cant just eat one"(for me the 1 is a bag).
i made a veggie stir fry wed, thur i made a veggie soup. to nite will do salad. if any one wold like some good recipes...feel free to email me....

Maria. Wasn't that West Side Story ?

Joe, vegetarian or vegetable, milk as well as ice cream are dairy products and come from a friggin cow, hehehe, ya better off making soy milk from Tofu. Orange juice and other naturals juices from a container have been pasturized and are not fit for human consumption. Potato chips and other bagged snacks have Hydrogenized vegetable oil and also not fit for human consumption. The difference between natural products that come in containers and bought at any store and juices that come from fruits and vegetables which you juice at home is the differnece between day and night. Laws make it possible for manufacturers to fool consumers like yourself. Remember, if you can't pronounce the ingredient, then it not good for you [Smile]

I smoke herbs before bedtime [Smile]

do all kinds of teas....and with out sugar....i concur with joey....my evening sweet treat, when i want something like that....is 2 fresh bananas, 4-5 strawberrys, and any other fresh fruit or berries. throw into a blender, add ice cubes, few drops of vinalla(sp)some o.j. blend till it like a mikeshake and enjoy!!!! for those who want to you can add some 2% milk or if you aint watchin fat you can add half and half. also have been using STEVIA...if you like sugar....stevia is no calories...and very little is need to make anything sweet.
we also have a CHAMPION juicer, and we freeze fresh bannanas.....which you run thru this juicer and it make the freshest banana ICE CREAM you will ever eat.caution....do not do this to a juiceman jr. we fryed the motor with the frozen bananas!!!!!!!!
