For those that remember the great chocolate crusade for Lola, the mission was successful. Bob and Kathy Gilliland and I had dinner with Lola Saturday evening...and she liked the chocolate.
She wasn't feeling really well, but enjoyed the evening. Today, she was to go back to the doctor for some more tests on her heart.
We kept her up late listening to all the Rick stories. She has a tremendous memory and loves to recall her association with all the great sign folks that have passed through the doors. Some are very interesting. It's evident that she loved being around every one of them.
It was very sad to drive past Rick and Lola's shop and see what it has become, and to know the gold mine that was there.
Please keep Lola in your prayers. She is making it fine, but still has a hole in her heart that can't be fixed by doctors.

Thanks for the update... although I didn't know her well enough for her to "remember" who I am... I do think of her often and hope that she is doing as well as can be expected, and that's just from the whole Rick/Shop/His family thing. I didn't know she had a real life hole in her heart, but I did know she must have had a whole bunch of "holes" in her heart after survivng through Rick's death and the chaos that followed.
Lola sold me my first "real" brush and her and Rick helped me pick out just the right one... I will never forget the time they spent with me, the new kid on the block, just for a $10 sale at the meet at PSS in San Jose.
