I need a little help from one of the Corel gurus. I'm getting some unwanted grammarical help when typing text. It's taken to capitalizing letters that I want left in lower case and sometimes spells out something I want left abbreviated, like it will take Co. and change it to company. I've tried, to no avail, to find something checked that might be causing this. I'm getting tired of having to trick it.

You need to go into the options and look for type assist.
So click Tools and then Options once in the options dialog on the left side look for text and then double click it, it will open up and you will see Type assist click on that and then you will be able to turn off some or all of the features you want.
Now it does not end their you might want to save your new options so look on the left side of the options dialog and look for and click on Document. Once you have it you must "Save options as defaults for new documents" and now this should end you problem.

the answers came thick n fast so there is only one thing I can add
corel allows you to make specific workspaces... (preferances) for any type of work you do
and.... it lets you save, export and import them
so, do yourself a favour 1/ make a cup of coffee 2/ grab your ciggies 3/ sit down at the machine to set corel up the way you need it to be
go to the tools/options menu hit the 'new' button and give your new setup a name
then... go thru every screen in the workspace setup read what it says, change the settings to something that works for you
yes it takes a few minutes but it will save you way more than that in the future
once you have it the way you want it, don't forget to hit the 'make current' button but before you leave save or export the workspace to another part of your hard drive incase you ever want or need to put it back
from time to time you will have stupid stuff happen that will require you to hold down the F8 key while you start the program (thus reseting the default 'out of the box' settings) or you will install corel in another puter or do a re-install in the original one
all you have to do is import your workspace into the program and your back in bussiness asap
i used to e-mail my workspace to folk who needed the setup for cutting... u know the minimum outline no fill bit way easier and quicker than talking them thru the settings over the phone
cheers gail
