have you tried to get an updated dongle driver from their website?

Or if this program is no longer supproted.. there are several sites around that will legally undongle this program for you

Curtis
Are you saying that a program like Flexi can be undongled? Used without the key? This would be nice so I could work on my other computer. What are some proven sites? Thanks

Hi Chris,
Try right clicking on Signlab's icon on your desktop---click on properties--- in there you should be able to select compatibility setting for earlier Windows versions.

Good luck.

Chris..I am SURE that a reputable company like CadLink/SignLab would be MORE than willing to support their products, when their VALUED customers upgrade to an operating system that is less than 5 years old!!!

Give them a call!!!

Maybe you will get a good answer..or maybe they support their customers poorly..who knows???

It's worth a call.

Please let all of Letterville know how you make out with SignLab customer support.

I, for one, would seriously like to hear the answers.

there are some answers to abandonded software. But it must fit specific parameters.

You must legally own it, and the version must be abandoned or not supported by the authors.

Then, if u are denied "fair use" because of a security device then you 'may' have legal recourse to circumvent it.. Library of congress has made specific rules and exemptions made because of certain 'abuses' and denials of fair use copyright laws

I am not a lawyer. But, there are multiple cases tested in court comfirming these rules.

Chris, you may need to install a HASP driver for the dongle.

edit

Here's a link to a description of the process.

the program was build prior to XP, and i dont see the wonderlust to upgrade to an operating system that is not backward compatable. your 4.95 was made to work in WIN 98/WIN98SE so why not stick with what works. i got XP on another hard drive....i "play" with it, but for my work i still use WIN98SE and it works with no problems.
if you buy a new computer with XP on it, you can FDISK/FORMAT and load WIN 98 on that drive....and it will work as it did on your old computer.

Joe---

I would STRONGLY disagree with that suggestion, as there are many hardwares in new machines that won't work with 98 at all. Formatting the OS and going with an older one is going to leave you with either one expensive paperweight, or a fat repair bill to get it running again, as it will likely void your warranty to do it, if the OS was even covered in the first place.

Chris,
I had the same problem with 4.95 when I tried to install it on NT a few years ago 4.95 does not support the NT kernel and the Hasp driver will not work on NT/XP You will have to upgrade to version 5 or use Windows 98. I still had support from Cadlink at that time and they wanted to sell me a new Dongle for the NT kernal. was $100 at that time. So I just upgraded to version 5 and been using that ever since.. They are hounding me to upgrade to E6 I just dont see that many differences for $600.

tamus i just built a new machine with 6 USB ports....i got removable hard drives and win 98 regognizes all and anything on my 2100AMD, 333DDR ram motherboard. so anything that will work on XP on this machine works in WIN 98SE AS well....and better...then XP. i dont worry about warrenties...and most dont have anything to do with OS.
