I hate to admit it, but I still have three old anagraph sign systems in my basement. ( I just can't bring myself to tossing them out) For some of you newer sign types...the old gerbers and anagraphs were DOS based proprietary systems that had software that was protected with hardwired dongle type protection. They also have the old 5.5 inch floppy discs. I had accumulated (purchased) a bunch of fonts that I haven't seen among the font collections I have for our Pentium systems that run our Flexi, Omega and Corel software. Has anyone out there evder figured how to extract these old fonts and import them into the new generation hard/software? This might seem dumb....but those fonts were high quality vectors that cut and weeded perfectly.

i got an old dos LETTER ART 6,7,8.0 and it had fonts that were expensive. most of those old fonts were TYPE 1 adobe fonts, with a propriatary extention name add buy who evers program you had. as for converting, you can get adobe type manager and if you got illistrator, photoshop, these come with some adobe fonts. in my opinion....most new fonts are as good if not cleaner then a lot of them old ones.

The only way I know to keep the fonts requires some work at your end. You'd have to get the old systems working, type out all the letters and character of the font(s) into a single page. Export that page (if possible) as AI, and then rebuild the font using the old outlines in Fontographer. I don't think you will find an automatic font converter anywhere for those old fonts. If you have Omega or GA, their Font Designer program is easier to use than Fontographer, but then the fonts would be proprietary to that system and not available as TTF or Type 1.
