Nevermind, This morning Penny said NO [Frown]

Seriously though, she did have a good reason. When I was talking to a buddy of mine last night about going (Penny was already in bed), I forgot her surgery is that week. For some reason I thought it was the following week.

So this morning @ 3:30 she is up getting ready for work, and I "Honey, can I...." (guys you know the voice and tone I am talking about)....

She replies..."I DON"T THINK SO!!!" (you know that voice and tone as well)

So maybe if it comes around to North America sometime in the next decade I will get to go....

But Thanks Folks for the replys and help [Thanks]

Sorry about that, I just looked over my post's and you are right, Terry!!!

UCI Cycling World Championships

If you are into cycling this is HUGE, [Applause] otherwise probably not [Roll Eyes]

Since cycling is such a big thing in Europe and most teams are based out of there, they are ussually held in Europe. I think it was 1996 the last time they were held in North America, in Boulder, Co.

BTW, I am talking bicycles here, but then again they are human powered to speeds of better than 60-70 kph

[FYI] Some have very cool paint jobs, as long as it is not a Mountin Stage. When there are huge hills most riders will go "Paintless" as the average paint job on a bike weighs around 100 grams, and every gram counts to these guys.

They would take the decals off if the sponsors who pay the bills would let them.

Now you know....The rest of the story.... [Thanks]

Hey Troy! Sorry to hear the warden said no to your time off for good behavior request. I live just across the harbor from Hamilton. A lot of our good customers are in Hamilton...some right in the middle of the cycling race course.

This World Cycling Championship is big time! It is generally considered to be the third most popular sporting event in the world. Olympics are number one, the soccer world cup is 2 and world cycling championship is number three. Hamilton has pulled off a big coup to bring it to North America. The race course is multiple laps through the centre of the city including a trip up and down the escarpment. This is 300 foot high cliff that splits Hamilton into lower and upper parts. There is a hairpin turn on the downbound part of the race course that is going to cause some high speed wipeouts. Hamilton has large Itallian and Portugese populations. These people along with most Europens love cycling.

It's probably a good thing your wife said no. Everyone expects huge crowds and finding a room anywhere in the area will be impossible.

For those of you that have never visited Hamilton please don't belive any of the wonderful things you read and hear about our city. Things about our revitalized waterfront, Royal Botanical Gardens, art gallery, orchestra, university, escarpment hiking trails, exellent health services and high employment rate are all over hyped and over rated! We have a great city of 500,000 people all to our selves! We really don't want a lot of visitors taking advantage of it all.

Unless you are Shania Twain! She is in Hamilton for the next two weeks putting together her world tour show. The first performance is Sept 23rd at Copps Colusium.

Chuck,
Thanks for the reply. I can understand the warden though. She has a real bad knee due to arthirtus behind the knee-cap and they are going to fix it for her, hopefully.

I have always loved cycling. Years ago (about 15) I used to ride/race what they call "Centuries" which, as the name implies are 100 mile ordeals. Now about 80 lbs. heavier I have decided not to let my injuries/illness' run my life any more and I have started by riding again.

I used to say "I can't do that, my back (and or knee) won't let me"...

NOW, I say "HOW can I do that , in spite of my back and or knee"

I tried walking, and I really don't like it anyway, but it really messed with my knee. I can walk at the mall with Dad just 2 miles and my knee swells up like a balloon. On the other hand, something I love, Cycling, I can get on the bike and ride 8, 10 or even 12 miles (my best thus far) and NO problems.

Since I started riding again I have already lost 12 lbs my goal is 50 lbs, but I don't have a time table for it. I have also cut out sweets and soft drinks. I now only drink water and my morning coffee, black of course.

Oh well, I am rambling again....Sorry
