Will some one please drop me a line that has some knowledge of Sign Lab and Roland plotters. I have screwed something up and cant seem to get this heap to cut! I have a full day of cutting and am in a real jam. Anyone out there. Please call me collect 803-980-6765. Has the plotter's preferred language been changed? That would cause it to stop working. Check and make sure it is correct. Since I use neither I can't tell you what right would be. Also, check if cable is plugged in and not broken anywhere.

It is working but all the default settings are screwed. It has never worked just right and ever since I got my new computer it will not make long runs without shutting the program off. I went in and tried to fix it and now it will not get the material size and so forth. Please help. If you tried to call and it was busy it was George telling me he couldnt help me.

BANG BANG !!!! Both barrels empty due to the convenience of the shot gun. What a freaking waist exclaimed the young lad as as the lifeless Roland hit the hardwood floor with a loud thud. This was a total disaster spiraling out of control but all the enraged boy could think of was his love for his beautiful brown haired Sable! It was time to clean up his mess and to return to her!

Ryan....If the SignLab/Roland combo was working previously...AND....you didn't change any settings on the actual cutter (like changing dip switch settings or anything like that). I would suspect that something in Signlab is probably the culprit. A CM 300 is not THAT old a machine, so it shouldn't be a mechanical failure, would you think?
Can you remember changing ANYTHING within SignLab?
Since I don't use Signlab I can't offer any suggestions about it.

Yea Dave that is what I started doing Changing stuff in Sign lab and the plotter. I thought I put every thing back the way it was but it was still messing up Mainly when it polled the plotter for the size of vinyl it would come up but the parameters would be 30 instead of 15. Or the other way around and it would try to tile the work. I have it close to the way I had it now but it is still different. It has never been able to cut one job after the other with out having to run the material out and cutting it. It always comes back to its starting point.It will cut the next job right on top of the other It also now shows the edje of the vinyl like it is punched on the screen????????

Try and do a Re-Install of the software. This should re-set all of your Default Settings for you. Good Luck..........JIM

The only problem you should be having with a roland on a serial port, is that the plotter is not on Rotate 90. Rolands ship from the factory with X along the width and Y along the length. You need to go to AXIS/Rotate 90 , on the Roland to make X along the length to match the coordinate system of most software. That might explain why your Get Page sizes are wrong and that the knife goes to the wrong spot at the end of the job. You should also make sure that all rotates are OFF and Axis Swap is OFF in the Signlab driver unless you are cutting short pieces along the width off the roll.
Should cure your problem. I dealt with hundreds of roland / rotate 90 issues when i was in tech support.

Frank Please help. That is when all the trouble started. I did that and now it is screwy. I poll the ploter and it send back the size then I have to manualy set the perameters ???????????

Maybe im missing something. I have a CX500 here which is basicly a wider CM300 with USB support. Is your plotter on rotate 90 from its Axis/Rotate menu option? If not,it should be or it will never really work properly. Then,reinstall the Signlab cutter driver via File/Install drivers, in Signlab. Find your Roland, remove the checkmark frm beside its name, then put the checkmark back beside its name and click on the NEXT button. That should nuke your existing driver and replace it with a fresh default driver. Then just go to Plotter Setup and make sure the Port location is correct. Make sure origin is Lower Left. Dont modify the End Point. Also make sure you dont put a checkmark in Axis Swap in the Plot Menu. That one may be your problem.
Ignore Get Page size for now. Its usefull but not neccessary. Just type in some text,and plot it. The text should cut along the length of the roll. If the text cuts along the width, then the plotter must still be on Rotate 0 or something very strange is going on. Double check its on Rotate 90 on the plotter. So, does it cut along the length or the width of the vinyl? If it cuts along the length as it should, then try Get Page size. What values does Get Page size return, and what size roll do you have on the machine? Im not sure what you mean by the plotter returns the values and then you have to manually set the paramaters. What paramaters are you manually setting.
