Is there someone out there who is using a Roland PC-600 printer. I would like to here what your experience has been. We are currently running an Edge Printer and want to go bigger.

Dennis:

As a Gerber EDGE owner, I doubt very much that you would be satisfied with a ColorCamm. The Gerber MAXX2 offers all of the Gerber brand thermal transfer imaging hallmarks...in a wide format machine. It would be well worth your time to learn more about the MAXX2, get a demonstration, etc., before making your final decision.

Good luck!

Is it opening up a can of worms to ask if the Maxx2 is bulletproof in light of the the fiasco of the Maxx?

What's the difference between the original and the new one? Seriously, I'd like to know.

If your looking into wider, how about Scotchprint? (sub it out maybe?) ColorCamm is no where near the quality of the Edge, it's slower, unreliable, not as durable, and expensive to produce per square foot than the Edge. I think I can count on one hand those who think it's a great machine, and no disrespect to them, but the ColorCamm would probably not be the way to go. I can't comment on the erber Maxx, since I have no experience with it, but Gerber has always made a great product. By the way I am not anti-Roland, I have a PNC-960.

That Versa Camm is interesting... I'm going to be in the market very shortly for a wider format Machine, I have an edge and am extremely happy with it, But I think a wider format machine is in the cards. Bob do you have any experience with the Versa Camm? Or do you know someone who does? Print Speed? Operating costs? Durability? They say that the prints will last up to 3 years with out lamination, so if you sprayed on a Uv protectant, that should extend the Life, I have to do that with the edge prints anyhow, so that is really no big deal to me. The price seems very reasonable, Will Omega or Graphix advantge drive the machine? Inquiring minds want to know.

Neil,
You know as much as I do about the VERSACAMM, but I plan on finding out more! I THINK this machine is the beginning of the demise of THERMAL TRANSFER......at least for ME! [Roll Eyes]

Avoid that ColorCamm. You should also check out the DC3 thread, we're talking about this very subject right now.

The Versa is likely going to be a serious market mover...

I was talking with the distributor of the Versa Camm yesterday, who is based in St. John's and he's going for training in California this week, The cost is about 80 cents a sq. ft. for 4 color, that's in US dollars, er I mean cents, I don't know if he has the speed correct but he says he thinks it's 80sq. ft per hour? Cost is around $19,000.00 Canadian, it will print and Cut, from around 6 to 29 inches so no waste of foils for smaller prints. ROI As some people pointed out Is Important, so if this machine can do what it says it can do, it should turn the Digital Printing on it's head. I know that it say's that it's estimated that it will last up to 3 years outside in an accelerated invironment, but what else can they do, I'm sure Gerber and any other printer used This type of testing in the beginning, and they were off the mark themselves, we still have to clearcoat, cause it don't last squat outdoors if we don't.
The Fact that it can cut and Print is a HUGE Feature for someone like myself Who already operates an Edge and Envision Plotter, which I Love, no doubt about that one.
