After reading about it on their website, I tried wet-sanding the stuff, on a small sign, with 320 wet/dry paper. It sands a LOT more quickly this way and doesn't clog the paper the way dry sanding does. It's almost as if it's melting the primer back to its wet state. Does it soften like this out in the weather?

Does anyone use this method? Any tips?
Thanks

Well...it seems to work just fine.
Used a LOT less sandpaper and saved aton of time. Do one sign with one or two sheets instead of 8 or 10 packs.
Wished I'd tried it much earlier.

Thanks for the tip Wayne - I'm going to try that next time. I use the primer on my HDU signs and have not had any trouble with it weather wise and boy do we get weather here!
I found that it you use it on a sign that you are going to sandblast you need to get the blasting done within a few days of priming it. I did a set of golf hole signs and I had to wait for about two months for the information on the last two holes. I darn near needed a jackhammer to break through the top layer on one. Once I broke through the primer the foam would dissolve underneath - I ended up removing the masking and sanding the second one off and repriming before I blasted it.

Any reason you can't used standard oil or water-based primer instead of that thick stuff? Just put a few extra coats on?

Kelly,
I found that if I use a little heavier grit sand, it will bust throught the primer much more easily.
Don't ask me what grit, the guy at the sand plant couldn't tell me [Roll Eyes]

Gonna wet-sand another this morning.
